Is Azealia Banks a Hip-Hop artist?
Do you consider Azealia Banks to be a Hip-Hop artist? Azealia herself prefers to call herself a Dance artist, but what do you think she is?
And yes she's a RAPPER, but we're talking about the HIP-HOP label.

No she doesn't prefer "Dance artist". She said she would take it over the label of 'rapper'.
Yes. 1991, Liquorice, Nathan, Jumaji, **** Up the Fun, Aquababe, all Hip Hop.

Yes. It may not be a hip hop beat, but she is still rapping and has a distinct flow. And she's ranked along with other hip hop artists all the time such as Nicki, Missy, Kim etc.

So saying she would take it over RAPPER, (which she is) is her preferring it.

She's a hip hop artist with a lot of indie/dance influences.

Kanye has rapped over dance beats. Does that mean he isn't a hip-hop artist too?

I'll give you FUTF, Nathan, and Jumanji, but 1991 and Liquorice are eh.

Nah. That statement was more of a rejection of the "rapper" label than a proclamation of being a Dance artist.
The fact that she put dance artist inside quotes and wrote lol after it makes me think that.

1991 is the same House-inspired Hip Hop that was popular in New York during the early '90s.

I see it more as a rejection of the Hip-Hop community, after what they did to her at Summer Jam.
