I do agree with the Nicki statement, as does Nic. Like I said, I'm so annoyed with people always wanting to just LABEL a female rapper with one genre.

I feel like she should just keep doing her and not worry about having to be boxed into a certain genre just to please people. I love that her and Nicki both think that way.

Azealia, at least from what I have heard, (1991 EP and FANTASEA) uses dance beats more than anything though. Her only pure hip-hop sounding song that I can think of off the top of my head is FUTF. Like I said, she shouldn't worry about genres anyway and just do what she wants.

Those two artists are primarily singers, and no one associates them with the rap game because, well, they are not hip-hop and they are not rappers. Azealia is a rapper.

I feel the same way. People always NEED a label for artists, and I don't know why. We can't call Rihanna a pop artist because she's releasing a ton of R&B/reggae/rock/etc music. The same goes for most artists, though. It's rare for an artist to releasing music that falls under one genre.

But the point is that just because Azealia raps doesn't mean she should be boxed into the Hip Hop genre.
