I flipped through an hour of the current MTV "programming" last weekend, and felt the need to cry or puke at the disgusting amount of teen-reality ********. (well, technically what I saw was far from reality...They need to cut this line off to just Road Rules, Real Worlds, and whatever True Life documentries they do.)

The channel isn't going down the toilet, it's already in your local sewer. U_X!

Well, there aren't many music videos on MTV anymore right? So do you have MTV2, MTVHITS?
But, do everyone have access to these channels? I mean, are they cable channel?
Cause it seems like a disposition all over the world MTVs to reduce their music video schedules... it's happening here on MTV Brazil now and I'm really hating, so I'm having to see videos at another channells or MTVHits.

i like the new shows...

Todays, there have been many reality shows, which most of them suck big time I mean, seriously, MTV = MUSIC Tevlevision. Then now, Music is only got less part than these reality shows. So, MTV = R(eality)TV.

The thing i hate most about MTV now is those stupid dating crappy reality shows (Room raiders,Next,Date My Mom,Exposed,Parental Control) and shows like Maui Fever which is a Laugna Beach clone

^ I'm with you on that. A 5-yr old can tell all those dating shows are fake and staged. So what's the point of watching that crap? It's not funny, it's just stupid nothing. I really wish MTV would at least dedicate 2 hrs between 4-10 pm of just music videos.

Obviously '98 is way better because they actually play music.

And not to justify their transition by any means, but I think it's important to realize that MTV' has unconsciously adapted the role of forming niches for their viewers. When their fanbase was about music loyalty and idolizations, they had TRL to propel artists like BSB, NSync, and Britney to superstardom.

Now - a new generation of fans is a lot more interested in the celebrity and seeing into their lives. The advent of reality television.

It's a shame that they merely cater to the "want" of their audience and forget about the music.

Although I gotta say - Real World Denver is one hillarious show.

Ugh...Mtv sucks now. Hands down. We need more music videos not reality shows.

this is why i stoped watching mtv, i dont remember the last time i actually watched that channel. glad others notice how scripted those dating shows is
jackass is the only show left on that channel i can actually mt2>same ****, mtvhits> never herd of

I also noticed on dating reality shows that the actors are reused i see this one guy on next then i see the same guy on parantal control

The sad thing is...I might watch tonight. I love Jackass.

But yeah, MTV is nowhere near where it was ten years ago. It's a shell of its former self.

You really had to ask? Well, then again, some people really do enjoy the stupid shows...

As far as I know it, MTV and MTV2 are both cable channels. MTVHits, however, is an digital cable channel in my area (not sure if it is everywhere), so most people who order all the non-digital cable channels only get MTV and MTV2 here.
