Even before the release of her LP "21" Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was already getting attention from her debut album "19" which helped her earn 2 Grammy awards, but in 2011 Adele suddenly blew up and became a huge MEGASTAR crushing record after record and leaving her contemporaries in the dust in both awards to sales. As we all know many people have sung about the same things she does MANY times before, but something about her draws the masses in like legends Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston did in the past.
What really made Adele the force she is right now, in your opinion?
It's her music. People were really hungry for good music again. Everything you would hear on the radio sounds the same, and I feel like she brought something relieving to that. People forgot how meaningful music is. I find it sad how much the music industry has suffered. When was the last time an album went diamond?

to answer the question, its her image. She isnt very attractive, she (was) fat, etc. Completely relate-able to the every day person. She sings about heartbreak which is even more relate-able. People buy because they feel for her
