Seeing as you hate this "flamboyant" image Gaga has imprinted and seethe at the fact that she made the stereotypes worse, why don't you rant about Adam Lambert? He's gay, he adovcates gay rights strongly and does everything you think is bad for the gay community's image. But I guess it's only bad when Gaga does it

I have already expressed my view on Adam Lambert in the correct thread. I do not support stereotyping and exploiting an audience in any form from any artist. That doesn't mean I hate Gaga, as people here are all too quick to associate any dissenting point of view with being a "troll" or a "hater".

Mexico is hell. She's at a crossroads and doesn't know if she can go on being a Catholic.
You know that I love you boy (God), hot like Mexico (hell) rejoice, at this point I've gotta choose.. she has to choose her religion or her acceptance of gays, basically.

Why can't the song just be about her past relationships?? It's much simpler and easier to comprehend, when MOST people listen to the song, they relate it to wanting to move on from someone.
I mean my god, it's not that serious

Wow, I didn't realize people were actually this unintelligent... those lyrics fit PERFECTLY within the concept. It's really not that hard to understand, actually.. the metaphors are painfully obvious if you know anything about Catholic imagery.
You think she just decided to randomly swallow a rosary in her music video?

"People take me entirely too seriously, and not seriously enough."
The people who say she's running around claiming herself to be the Savior of the Gays and is causing her Monsters to kill themselves and is promoting negative stereotypes, are taking her too seriously. The ones who refuse to look past the surface or to give her credit for any artistic intention, are not taking her seriously enough.

Because Gaga said that it's about her admiration of gay love, because she's intelligent, and she constantly uses religious imagery and metaphors in her work. Constantly.
And it is about her past relationships. It's about her past relationship with God. It's about moving on from GOD. It's just not a boyfriend.

Like, why would Gaga lie? She's the one who said it's about gay love and her religion. It's her artistry.
I was unaware pop music and intelligent usage of imagery were mutually exclusive.

Because the video changes the meaning. It's not a difficult concept...
What's all the bit about a halo and a ring around her finger and her boyfriend being like a dad? That's not easily-relatable everyday ex-boyfriend stuff, is it? The video gives you the key to unlocking the song, just like Bad Romance (it's actually about selling your soul to a record label in exchange for fame), Telephone (about fear of creative suffocation), and Marry the Night (embracing your insecurities and creating your own reality so you can become the full you).

This really is all too much for me. I will continue to relate to the song in the way that I first interpreted it, which is wanting someone to get over you, who you've loved in the past but love no longer
I enjoy gaga songs for the messages that they convey without any thought!

It's not even over analyzing things, either. It's a ridiculously simple concept.
I'm sure you guys thought Gaga just decided to randomly pull out a lipstick gun in the Judas music video, too. Assuming you know who Judas was.

If her videos really have all these different meanings then she does a piss-poor job translating what's in her head to film.

There's no problem with that. She's even said that she'd rather the public interpret the songs their own way then constantly explain them. It's what you get out of the song.

Okay, you can interpret however you want. I totally understand that, but there was some considerable amount of creativity and thought required when she did that music video/wrote that song.
I think the reason she makes it seem so thoughtless is because she wants it to be relatable. And she's an irl troll.

If you're not willing to attempt to understand that she has deeper messages in her songs, this is your shortcoming, not mine for "looking too deeply."

I've actually seen people say the lipstick gun was just for the camp value and had no relation to the video or song

Judas was correctly interpreted. The song is very simple to understand.
The theme you explained for Alejandro is not simple at all and any casual listener would not get that vibe from it at all.

There's the difference between you and me. Once I was willing to say, "Let me imagine that she does know what she's doing," everything really clicks into place quite easily. If you approach things from the angle of "she's overblown and pretentious and it's not going to make sense," of course you're not going to understand or be willing to look beneath the surface.
You used to like her for her simplicity and her chart success. Awesome for you. I prefere my Gaga with some thought behind her visuals. That doesn't mean my Gaga is any less valid. It doesn't mean I'm delusional.
