It always bothered me as a little kid. I'm pretty sure that if there was a WET (White entertainment television) network, people would be screaming racism out of their lungs.
And for starters, I am semi-light browned skinned but my ancestors came from China and India. So let's just say I'm half white and half black. Some would say I was red lol.
I just wanted to make clear that I'm not taking any sides. But I just think it's weird that Dark skinned people can get away with doing these type of things. When they make a racist joke it's automatically funny and hilarious but when a white kid makes it..... he needs to run like the wind.
There isn't really racism in my country but the way the speak of white people sometimes ?! In the beginning when I started listening to Kelly Clarkson, my brother and mother were like, why are you listening to that white trash ? I'm like..... why are you acting all ghetto when you are technically kinda white as well ?
There are little things that black people can get away with and white people can't. It isn't really fair to be honest.
I also remember my first vacation to Miami where I have a couple cousins. I said Niggarr and the whole room just turned around and looked at me shockingly. They were like noooo only black people can say that word, it's a bad bad word. I was like but I'm half black and then they say you have to be full black to say the word.
I'm not trying to start anything but I think it's just weird that we are in the 21st century and we are still living like this. It's annoying when people raise their eyebrow when they see a interracial couple or when my black friend comes to visit and I see my grandmother putting her jewelry away.
BET is more of a stereotype than it is "being racist" IMO

IMO there are Black people who DISLIKE THE HELL OUT OF THAT CHANNEL and prefer other TV networks Targeted towards Black /Afro-american/Negro culture (Centric an TVOne) and there are people from other races who enjoy the programming there.

Turn to any channel that's not BET or a spanish speaking channel and who will you see? White people. If not in the tv show you will see them in the commercial. Excuse black people for trying to have a channel just for our demographic. This is such a stupid ass thread.

No, i don't see it like that. It's a cable channel with a specific theme for African-American people. Just like how there are specific cable channels for animals, music, Chinese, fashion, etc.
I was just thinking this when I saw the preview for the next episode of The Finder with 50 Cent on it. He sees him dancing and says 300% White boy, because he's so bad.

Basically. BET was made as a channel that featured blacks in spots they weren't featured in. Now it just plays to stereotypes and reinforces them.
