However, a shortened BTW would be better by miles.  The first four tracks, tracks 6 through 8, HML, and TEOG; that's all we needed.
I love the rest of it, of course, but that would have made a much stronger, cohesive release.

While I agree, Yoü and I rightfully deserved it's place on the album. It's truly one of her best songs, and doesn't deserve anywhere near the hate it gets.
Plus, making it a single was one of the smartest things that could have been done this era. It was obviously going to attract the country lovers of the GP and it faired well for one of the tracks the fans don't like the most. Accessible lyrics and a pro-christian message goes a long way.
