Being in the headline every day, breaking records every week, being super-successful and only continung that trend since she debuted is what makes her a contender. There hasn't been a moment in the last two years she hasn't been a a force in pop music, to deny that is delusion.
Gaga is closer than Katy is right now. But that can all change and that doesn't mean Katy isn't a contender now or could be in the future.

Finally we find a settlement. Yes, Katy could be a contender in the future and even has a perfect strategic point with her next era if she chooses to use it properly, based on her success this era. I simply think that to ultimately qualify for the title, she needs to be louder and needs to stand up more for what she believes in and specifically for a good cause.

Katy has always done good for many causes and stood up for what she believes in.
Just because she doesnt spend a whole record on it and every interview out there for over a year on it doesnt mean she doesn't care or isn't involved.

Gaga's message isn't only about the LGBT. The BTW Foundation is about empowerment for all, not only gay kids.

Forbes ranked Gaga 2nd most powerful celebrity woman and 14th overall most powerful woman. The lists don't take into account how much money the women earned. It's purely based on how they used their image and status for the greater good and helped change the world. Katy, Rihanna and Adele didn't make it
