At least GaGa took risks within dance-pop music with BtW. So many artist simply choose to run to the hottest producer for their dance-pop tune about getting drunk, having sex and not having a care in the world. I like these songs, but they have become empty out of repetitiveness.

I'l also say that Just Dance & Tik Tok have had MANY copycats.

The difference is they have a few generic pop songs on their albums, not entire albums filled with generic pop songs. And when Beyonce releases pop it's more than likely critically acclaimed.

But we aren't only talking about "commercial pop music", we're talking about ALL pop music in general and how only the generic empty pop music becomes succcessful while the more connected, inspired pop music is virtually ignored.

Not really. This board thinks 4 is a POP album and Bey's exclusively a pop star. A lot of them do not know what R&B music sounds like.

I agree that pop music is awful at the moment.

But Lady Gaga is actually one of the worst. Her songs are just as generic as Katy Perry's imo. Especially when you take away the lyrics.

I did love 00's pop music though. It was only in the last few years when it started getting awful imo, and it's looking to get better now, as it seems dance music and electropop are FINALLY dieing out (Taio Cruz, Lady Gaga and Pitbull can't be happy about this!!).
