Pretty much. For the most part, pop music has never been substantial or meaningful. It's created for the masses and modeled after the lastest trends.

Pop music hasn't been substantial because that's what people have enjoyed for the past few years. But now we're starting to see a shift away from that as artist like Katy and Rihanna are losing some steam while Adele is outselling everyone from the past 8 or so years.

And I want artists to be interested in their own music again. Doing something that reflects them, instead of formulating an album in order to get a hit. It's disappointing really. I don't understand how we've even gotten to this point.

Which im totally fine with, because I would rather Beyonce makes personal albums that sell around 3 million and get her even more remembered than she is now than make some ******** I will forget about as soon as her next album comes out. I mean its no secret Bey stans listen to B'Day more than I Am...Sasha Fierce on a regular basis because B'Day was a flawless album and IASF was a flawless (era) with okay music sans Single Ladies and Halo.

that's what sales and as I said, the general public will continue to eat it up like they've been doing for years. This article raises some good points but it also has it's flaws. But none the less, nothing is going to change. Don't like it than don't listen to it.
