But not recently. Recently, it's shooting up because of minimal airplay. I will not underestimate Adele, and I believe that song will begin to make its mark immediately upon being performed at the VMAs.

Till August 16th Cheers passes 50m AI i think
By the way
36. Someone Like You - Adele
38. Cheers (Drink to That) - Rihanna
Well, Rihanna is about to pass Adele, with no promo.. Adele performed Someone Like You for a few times.
Someone Like You is in top100 for a while, but Cheers came here in two weeks and still gaining. I don't think that: Someone Like You will be a danger for Cheers..

SLY was only performed once in the U.S. and that was on Ellen when her album dropped.

I think you are failing to realize that SLY is a ballad, so even though it goes for adds on the 16th it will take a little longer for it to take off. Also, when it does take off the updates wont be as huge as you think considering that this is no the multi-format smash that RITD was. I don't think it will be huge on pop ( which is where most sells come from) and most of it's AI will come from HAC. I think the only way for this song to challenge Cheers is with a crap load of performances, which for some reason I don't feel we will get. One more thing, even if it does take after the VMAs Cheers could be near 75 million AI and very high on itunes, so I don't think it will be a problem

UK promo doesn't transfer to the U.S. though. The SLY promo hasn't really started in the U.S.

I know right. She had me even prouder after she got the world to sing about sadomasochism, chains, whips, and sex in the air. Rih got us all wrapped around her fingers.

Why not?
There's the VMAs and possibly XFactor and SNL this fall. Plus, who's to say that Glee doesn't cover it like her other songs from this album?
Plus, it's almost top 50 at Pop radio before an adds date, so it being "slow" is irrelevant. It's doing pretty decently all things considered.
I don't necessarily think SLY will pose a threat to "Cheers" and I'm not declaring it a #1 like other posters, but do not underestimate what this song can do. From my knowledge, it has taken off at radio quicker than RITD did. It took RITD two months to catch on fully. That's a good sign.

IDK, I know she is performing at the VMA"s but i'm not sure how much more we will get. When does she finish her NA tour. I'm not saying it will do bad on radio, i'm just saying it doesn't appeal to as many people as RITD. Like I stated earlier I think it will do well, I think it will pose the biggest threat to Cheers during the fall, however I don't think it will have the AI to be bigger than Cheers. When SFTTR comes then we can start talking about song that will absolutely smash and be another multi-format hit

I am sorry but no straight guy above the age of 22 was jamming to the song. It is more geared to cater to the twinks while cheers has that laid back feel that anyone could relate to whether your out partying or not.

Her tour ends sometime in late September. It doesn't have to appeal to as many formats as RITD to find success. It has AC, Triple A, Hot AC and Pop. Those should be enough formats pushing it to be at least a decent success at radio and in sales.
People keep talking about SFTTR being this future multi-format smash hit, but it appeals to as many formats as SLY and not as many as RITD. I don't think SFTTR would be any better of a single or bigger hit than SLY. SFTTR was being outperformed by SLY on iTunes before the second single was even decided.

32. Don't Wanna Go Home
We're gonna have to track this hour-by-hour. I'm going to bed soon and I want to see how fast it goes up.
Also, 'Good Life' is being performed on the TCA's right now. . that will be going up as well

I prefer SLY over SFTTR. I think they may appeal to the same formats, but I believe that pop will hop on it more just because it is a bit more uptempo. I think that if SLY takes off it will peak at about 75-80 million AI. She is coming near me on October 15th so her tour goes on through October, which lessen her promotion which is what I strongly believe this song will need to be big

I don't think it lessens her promo. Artists find ways to promote in between shows and it's not like she's doing these arena shows. I mean, she's performing at the VMAs the same week she has shows. She will have more than enough time to do promo for this song. SLY probably won't peak in airplay until October or November. She'll do fine. If "Jar of Hearts" (a song by a relatively unknown) managed top 20 at Pop radio, then I think one of the most acclaimed songs of the year by the biggest artist of the year should do just as well or better. She doesn't need #1 and Rih fans shouldn't have anything to worry about.
