Lol, why are we even having this conversation? Who cares what stans say when Forbes, Guinness, and receipts in general say otherwise? Gaga's fame and relevance literally transcends the traditional definitions. You have artists like Katy and Rihanna who are famous for their singles, and then you have artists like Beyonce and Gaga who are famous because of who they are and what they do beyond just music.
Yes, Gaga is a popstar and she does need to make music that appeals to everyone, but at the same time her power and influence even after BTW proves that her music is now just a fraction of what makes her who she is. This isn't 2009 anymore, she's not just a popstar, she's a cultural phenomenon and a household name. It's about EVERYTHING, not just music.

Like.. No. That's not why "LADY GAGA" exists. It's Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, the MUSIC that makes her a star. She uses all of the other "crap" (not actually crap) to push the music.

I know for a fact that Gaga probably hated that MTN bombed. Let's hope that kicked her into gear in regard to he upcoming decisions for the ARTPOP era.

Simple logic tells you that Gaga is not musically relevant because she didn't release any music in 2012. She remained relevant as a celebrity with her tour, perfume, BTW Foundation and controversies like weight gain, Madonna thing etc.

It's mainly her fashion and her persona, I'd say.
Upon her debut, she wasn't the biggest musically. 2009 was the year of The Black Eyed Peas (singles-wise) and Taylor Swift (album-wise), in that sense. But culturally, it was mostly her, with Beyonce also present with "Single Ladies"

Gaga's last era didn't perform as well as we would have hoped and she hasn't released music in 2012, which apparently doesn't make her relevant according to some. Can we please move on now?

My point exactly. She has the luxury of being able to remain the most talked about popstar of 2012 even without releasing music because it's no longer just the music anymore. LADY GAGA is a brand now, a brand which branches out into clothing, perfume, philanthropy, and anything else Gaga puts her name onto. Gaga can go a year without releasing a music and still keep her name in the headlines because she does other things. It's a good thing, actually, and proves just how massive and powerful she is.
