When I sing covers I never change the pronouns, and I hate when people do. When covering a song you're telling someone else's story. If you really need to make it "yours" you might as well rewrite all the lyrics. You don't change pronouns when reading a book aloud, so why do it for a song?
Same! It's so lame and sometimes it just comes off as awkward like in this instance
But seriously I have tried so many social issues and the outcome is lame and cheesy and try hard. I feel fake for writing about them and preachy and I need to find one where that doesn't happen. My mind seems to know what it wants to write about but it doesn't wanna tell me because whenever I write something, it's like "no, not this, try that other thing. This one feels forced" and I'm just like --------________--------

Not to mention it's always disconcerting and makes the singer come across as extremely insecure.
