Unfortunately many confuse lack of transparency with dishonesty. Hillary has a bad relationship with the media and it's not difficult to see why. Conspiracy theories galore and 25 years of Republican smearing have been effective.
Also she's a woman and people can deny it all they want but higher expectations are set for women regarding code of conduct. For God's sake a random comment about staying home and baking cookies when criticized for not being a "proper" First Lady for going out of her way to implement the framework for national healthcare made headlines and controversy.
Let me know the last time a First Lady got chastised for her husband's behavior. Let me know the last time a President got smack for what his wife did.
She is one of the most honest politicians out there. In fact, statement for statement, she's more honest than Bernie Sanders, and I only use him as a metric because he's apparently held in high regard.
One can look at the Benghazi fiasco to see how a dozen investigations found not a single fault with Hillary's conduct, yet apparently it's totally fine that Republicans were the one to reduce spending on embassy security abroad.
In fact one only has to look at the e-mail scandal to see how Hillary was treated in a far different manner than any other politician. People think she gets special treatment, when the fact of the matter is she's treated different than everyone else by being held at irrationally high standards. Every politican breaks protocol, but apparently it's a matter of national security when Hillary does it. Meanwhile Bush/Cheney delete 20 million e-mails from private accounts and nobody bats an eye.
Everyone has baggage. Hillary's is all out there. People think she's untrustworthy when literally every "mistake" she's ever been a part of has been dogged and abused. So there's nothing left to hide.
