Adele pretty much ruined everyone's plan. Katy survived because she is basic and US radio loves basic. Rihanna and Beyonce both went Adelish with Stay, Diamonds and XO.
Everyone else in pop music pretty much looks like a joke.

Gaga doesn't have the drive to have a Madonna-like career, and I really don't get why she was ever compared to Madonna, seeing as that Gaga is a lot safer in terms of her art and her rise to the top was much faster than Madonna's. Plus, Gaga is far more flamboyant than Madonna ever was. Cher would probably be a closer bet for her. Cher has had a long career, but she is really nothing more than a gay icon and has never been as universal as a Janet or Madonna.

The tricky thing is though Britney commercially peaked in 1999-2001, she was a media magnet for much longer after her sales declined. I don't see Gags being as much of a tabloid fixture as Britney was. Who gives a sh*t who Gaga dates or what drugs she takes? W/ Britney it was always a big deal because she started out with that pedo/virginal image BS.
