RCA obviously cares ALOT about her, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten her as the face of Ralph Lauren, spreads in VOGUE, PLAYBOY, cover stories and feature interviews in Spin, Fader, Fact Mag, Dazed, MTV, etc., booked in tons of iHeartRadio events and pop radio station gigs in the past 2 months.
Labels don't make **** happen overnight, unless you're Beyonce or Adele or Taylor, etc.

the bold part is not her label job. it's her manager job. her label is only in charge of getting the music out there

I mean her label got her a Chris Brown collab, got her featured on other artist's songs, as well as appearances on movie soundtracks. The worst part is that she sold out and she's still not getting a hit. She's just not as great as she thinks she is.

well, maybe if she collabs with Queen Ciara aka the only female R&B artist to have a solo Platinum hit in 2015, she may have a chance of getting another hit

I don't think promotion would do much for Player anyway. Let her have her hit with All My Friends.

Major labels no longer have the power they used to have when it comes to making hits, she will find success through the loose ends (it’s already happening)

Tinashe is on the way of becoming the new Ciara. So much potential, so much talent. But it never happened for her. (PS: this not flame bait. There is honestly no excuse for Ciara not having a seat at the same table that Rih, Bey, Gaga, Katy, Adele and Taylor sit at).

The problem with "Player" is that its too pop for Urban. If she was trying to go for the crossover/pop thing she should have done it diffrently. As much as Urban radio loves CB, Player isn't the type of record that's going to get put into heavy rotation there. Its too poppy. In retrospect, its also too Urban for pop considering the feature. Other than Rhythmic it has no place. And she isnt established enough to take off completely on Top40 on her own. A complete waste of a feature tbh
If she was trying to put out a pop/crossover record she should have went a different direction. If she wanted to focus on Urban and spins there with the CB feature she should have used it on a more Urban oriented track.

THIS
I still don't get why they released Player tbh, but it didn't do any damage anyway I guess. The crucial song is the one they'll release to ride the hype of All My Friends and that one better be a clever single choice.

Yeah. I really don't get where they were going with it. It's not a bad song and I love the visuals but Tinashe is too new to try to automatically go for the automatic crossover smash. And it def wasnt gonna happen with Player. She's gonna have to build up to it. Or have a smash Urban record that eventually crosses over like 2 on and Somebody. Even Post To Be

No, that's the job of her PUBLICIST and her PR/promotions team at RCA.

all about that bass for starters..
it was her very first single and it smashed hard EVERYWHERE. Sometimes you only get one chance... some people just aren't mean to be superstars, some people succeed better behind the scenes
1. Why are people saying 2 on was a Hit, it wasn't, it didnt even reach top 20, its highest peak is 24 and sold a million copies, its a moderate hit at that.
2. Pretend was a terrible single choice, I always fast forward that track, but she wanted it as a single, and her label wanted all hands on deck.
3. People are saying what do the weekend, meghan trainer, and shawn mendes have that tinashe doesn't. Bigger album sales and singles...
4. Sucks bc tinashe has some bops but even a mainstream catchy pop song like player didnt do anything, and when a generic pop bop doesn't stick then u know you have a problem,

1. R&B songs and pop songs have different standards and do not share the same definition of what a hit is. 2 On was one of the most successful urban songs of that year. It's a hit. A big one.
2. Both Pretend and AHOD were bad, anticlimactic single choices and neither would have done her justice. Pretend was lame, AHOD was a watered down version of 2 On and would make her look like a one-trick pony.
3. I don't even get this. Noone in this thread doubted that these people are more successful. Some just insinuated they shouldn't be.
4. Being a "generic pop bop" is exactly the reason why the song didn't do much. Pop isn't on trend and generic is a bad thing
