With only two days to go before the release of Caracal, Disclosure and Lorde will reveal their track 'Magnets' this evening exclusively as Zane Lowe's 'World Records' on his Beats 1 show from 5:30pm BST. A surprise picture uploaded to Lorde's Twitter during the album recording sessions sent everyone into an excitable tailspin at the prospect of the guys collaborating and this was later confirmed with the full the album announcement. Having teamed up previously when performing at the BRITS back in 2014, the result of these two forward-thinking powerhouses meeting is an undeniable confidence and this is channeled into the collaborative, 'Magnets'.
'Magnets' will be available as a free download from iTunes with pre-orders of Caracal and available on all streaming services from midnight.
From the second the vocals started on this track and everybody realised it was Lorde, everybody cheered. This is the big feature on the album and perhaps the most anticipated track and it was actually worth the wait. Lorde sounds a little different in the verses like she’s using a slightly higher register but it works and the pre-chorus on this is a glorious pop moment. Disclosure are definitely going for some more pop song structures on the record rather than aiming for all-out club bangers and it’s helping to make Caracal a little more diverse than settle. At this point in the album, Magnets was by far the most well received track so far.
