She isn't local anymore. It's just the fact that she is so huge in the US that makes her seem local.

Taylor Swift is very global. Unfortunately, while ATRL constantly complains about racial issues, they themselves are racist and are so eurocentric, that even if she is the biggest western star in Asia, it doesn't matter to them because she isn't number one in Europe. Swift's biggest markets are English speaking countries across the planet, Japan, Southeast Asia, and China. That's a good half of the world's population, and thereby, quite global.

She will always be local imo.
She won't ever add a long distance plan to her Verizon plane like I have because she focuses on the American gp too much.

Maybe just maybe because out of the top 20 markets in the world 11 are European. China and India might have 3 billion people combined but as markets they're sitll smaller than Switzerland.

Those 11 countries together are the 32% of the total market, The US alone is +32.7%
Not to mention she also slays Japan (+17%) and that 32% from Europe includes a 9% from the UK where she is also slaying and a 9.3% from Germany where is doing fine.
Also she is doing decent in the rest of european countries that are inside the top 20, like France or Spain, where the album is gold

5,200,000 + 750,000 + 370,000 + 450,000 + 45,000 + 60,000
= 6,875,000
8,000,000 - 6,875,000
=1,125,000
1,125,000 divided by 8,000,000
=0.140625 x 100
=14.0625
∴ Only 14% of 1989's WW sales (8,000,000+ copies sold) come fron non-English speaking countries.
The answer: SHE IS NOT GLOBAL
/endthread

A better conclusion to draw from these stats is that 86% of her sales from 1989 come from just 6 countries, therefore she isn't global. either way she isn't global.

Well yes that's why to be global you need to slay in North America, in Japan and in Europe at least.
She's slaying in the UK, I'll give you that. I don't know about Germany but in France she's doing mediocre at best, a gold certification means nothing when they've been lowered again and again in recent years. Gold here is the equivalent of selling 250k albums in the US. I imagine it's the same in Spain and Italy. If she was doing decent, she would have more than 3 dates on the entire European continent bar UK & Ireland on her 1989 tour.

Actually 8 dates
there is demand for her to do some extra arenas in Europe, it's just that she perfers to do stadiums in US, Oceania and Japan.
I get your point but she is slaying really hard in Japan, The US, The UK, China, and Australia and that alone is 73.9% of the overall market. So the people saying she is slaying only 6 countries, ok, maybe, but look at these stats..
Her last album is also doing really well in Mexico and Brazil and just fine in the rest of the european markets, that for me is global, she is doing at least fine in all the top 20 markets, and together they are 93% of the overall market

Local? She sold 3 million outside her biggest market. That is more than what your fave's latest album sold worldwide! And I'm not even a Taylor fan! But I'm not blind! Girl is slaying!
