Love Story peaked at #2, WANEGBT peaked at #4, IKYWT peaked at #2, 22 peaked at #9, Everything Has Changed peaked at #7, Shake It Off at #2, Blank Space at #4, and Bad Blood at #4.
Nicki Minaj doesn't have a #1 in the U.S. Justin Bieber doesn't have a number one single in the U.S. (I mean, he'll get one this week, but that's only after 7 years into his career). Are you implying that's the only way someone becomes relevant in a country?

No, I am not and I wouldn't use Nicki as an example since she isn't that global either but it just shows she is just missing stuff. She's just not as global as some of her peers

The at the end of your post to make it seem like she's a nobody didn't work. Let me not even mention the way you cherry picked her stats while ignoring her other achievements in those countries.
---
1989 is the 2nd biggest and most global album of the decade. Y'all need to stop trying it.

I'm not saying that Nicki is global, I'm just saying that she is definitely relevant in the United States without a number one single, so for you to say that Taylor isn't relevant in the UK because she doesn't have a number one single is silly.
Plus, 1989 has sold 750,000 copies there, more than Bey, Katy, or Gaga's latest efforts and roughly equal if not a little more than Unapologetic.

According to the Taylor Swift receipts thread, this is how much 1989 has sold in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland.
Quote:
US: 5,200,000
UK: 750,000
Australia: 370,000
Canada: 450,000
New Zealand: 45,000
Ireland: 60,000
|
5,200,000 + 750,000 + 370,000 + 450,000 + 45,000 + 60,000
= 6,875,000
8,000,000 - 6,875,000
=1,125,000
1,125,000 divided by 8,000,000
=0.140625 x 100
=14.0625
∴ Only 14% of 1989's WW sales (8,000,000+ copies sold) come fron non-English speaking countries.
The answer: SHE IS NOT GLOBAL

How are some of you saying she's global when only 14% of 1989's WW sales come from non-English speaking countries?

Shake It Off and Black Space would have gone #1 if they were released 2 months later like all the other UK releases

What kind of whack ass logic?
It used to be 1.) she isnt big outside the US.
And now it's 2.) she isn't big outside English-speaking countries

This is a really silly argument. Just because a country speaks English doesn't mean it can be lumped in with the United States?
You can do the same thing with most "global" albums. Using the Rihanna receipts thread and doing the same thing, you'll see that Loud, an album most of us consider to be global, only sold around 1.8 million excluding the same countries?
Obviously albums are going to sell better in countries where the majority of the population speaks the language that the album is in...

She isn't completely global, considering the 1989 era ended after Blank Space in most European countries, but she isn't local anymore.

If she had have done the pre-order thing, like a lot of artists do for the UK, with her last two lead singles she could have been able to get a couple of #1's i think. But SIO, WANEGBT, Trouble and BS sold more than some number 1's over there. Peaks aren't everything.
