If a gay person who had only recently come to accept themselves for who they were after living their life in fear and self-hatred said this I would defend theml. If an older straight person said this I would still defend them as well as they are speaking honestly and at least putting forth an effort to be open minded which is more than many people are willing to give.

I'm going easy on Caitlyn because this all very new to her. She's never been on a platform to discuss these issues as someone who is part of the community. I have seen a bit of her show and have seen a lot of her trans check her, which I like. I'd like to add also that even though trans people and gay people are grouped together with "LGBT", the issues are VERY different. The gay community isn't her community.
