Sorry if Zendaya doesn't want to allow the stereotype with black people's hair to perpetuate further for a tasteless joke

There's a difference between mocking a race and mocking an individual Giuliana didn't say all girls with locs/dreads = smelly and weedy, just that Zendaya looked like it. No one said all there's a stereotype about white women and braided hair, but even if there were, it's a joke/statement that applies to one individual, not a whole race.
When I say "Gaga can't dance" I'm not mocking her whiteness . When I say Rihanna probably smells like weed, I'm not mocking her blackness, but stating the fact that she loves smoking weed
People need to loosen up and stop applying individual insults to insults towards the whole group when it's not. Pretty soon, only white people can be insulted in any way, and all other minorities will be off limits to comedians.

I mean, no one complained about anything when Iggy was mocked for her Grammy hairstyle
And yet, Zendaya gets people pulling the racism card for her when her hair isn't looking ideal to one critic.

Saying blonde braids looks like ramen noodles > Connoting Afrocentric hairstyle with weed and oil or w/e
+ people have been doing the ramen noodle meme for black men long before iggy.

I honestly don't think she was trying to be racist nor was it meant to be hurtful but I think her apology is genuine in which she discussed that it was not the intention but the end result and that she's apologetic for it.
To be honest, we all (black people included) perpetuate stereotypes day to day so we shouldn't be too harsh on someone for making a joke.

Stop acting brand new. Where the hell did Rancic infer "weed" from a standard clean white cocktail dress, worn by a fricking teenager? The remark was obviously towards her hair, playing on very well already established stereotypes on Jamaicans. Rancic has never once dissed Zendaya on fashion police, it has always been praise and as soon as Zendaya embraces her texture, this is her response?

Tbh.. dont think it was her intention to offend, she was just joking since its a stereotype. Zendaya felt offended, her father wears dreads and she wanted to portray them in a positive light. Hair is a pretty big deal in the black community, due to stuff like this in the past and white supremacy(don't give your opinion if you don't understand it, you look stupid). Guiliana did the right thing and apologized so people should take their foots of her neck a bit. Let it go, she's not a bad person.. people make stereotypical jokes a lot, some get away with it but Guiliana was called out (rightfully so). She doesn't deserve to be fired or be subjected to disgusting comments about her weight that member here think are funny.

Oh please she brought up the fact that Zendaya looks like she smells of weed because she associates locs with weed because that's the stereotype. Don't act dumb now, I know you aren't. Yes, its a joke, Zendaya felt sensitively about it because her father wears them and she probably knows all too well the stereotypes and doesn't find them funny. She wants to stop the negative view of locs (which is why she wore them at the Oscars) and decided to call out Guiliana for furthering the stereotype on the show. Saying Rihanna smokes weed is completely different because she doesn't hide it. When has Zendaya ever given the impression she smokes weed for Guiliana to say that?

But I honestly don't see how "looking like a weed smoker" is such a bad connotation, especially in this day and age Yes, it's insulting to Zendaya personally, but I don't get why it applies to black people in general. I mean, Jamaicans are as associated with weed as Southerners/Overalls are with being hillbillies/rednecks. It's more a cultural stereotype than a racial one
If Giuliana had sad Zendaya looks like ghetto food-stamp trash, that would be pretty racist, i agree, but saying she looks like she just smoked a fine blunt on her way here from the West Indies doesn't strike me as racist as much as it is stereotyping a country/culture that produced Bob Marley

Because she didn't wear a classy ass gown to the oscars to be told that she looks like she stinks of weed, simply because she has an Afrocentric hairstyle. Her hair was clearly neat and clean, so the comment did partially come off as a criticism of afrotexture and the traditional hairstyle she had chosen. Nobody is going to connote a traditional western hairstyle with weed (and it hasn't been don't on the FP to my knowledge) so it's offensive that she'd even try it with a black girl who decides to embrace her texture for once.

Her comment obviously was a stereotype but isnt that what Fashion Police relies upon? A BIT of an overreaction.

Zendaya getting sensitive for a hair comment is pathetic.
Giuliana apologizing on twitter and on tv is pathetic.
This whole situation is so pathetic and would've never happened is Joan was still alive.

Just because you use stereotypes, doesn't mean you're a racist.
EVERYONE stereotypes, whether you want to admit it or not.
For instance, if a huge and tattooed white man was down one dark alley and another alley there is a little old lady, which one are you going to be more scared of? You're going to use stereotypes and pass judgement.
People need to stop doing the most.
