You really can't say it wouldn't haven't changed at all though. Even if she didn't have a huge impact she was the HUGE phenomenon from 2008-2010. The fact is if she wasn't there, the spotlight might have gone to someone else. Music may have been changed not by her absence by the void some other artist filled. Christina wouldn't have made that infamous comment and we may not have #JusticeforBionic because maybe Bionic would've been massive without the over pumping of the Lady GaGa songs into the mainstream audience. Sometimes changing even something so small can cause big changes. The music industry would most definitely be different.

Forget about the current Gaga, the old Lady Gaga definitely made a splash in the way popstars were marketed, it feels like it began to be more focused on the image + gimmicks after she appeared. But she also made an impact on music tbh. Sometimes I wonder if stars like Katy would've ever pull off her candy themed world or if Miley would still be singing pop-rock on jeans if they didn't see how pushing boundries worked for Gaga (not trying to sound delusional).

Everybody tries to "out-weird" each other. People focus less on good vocals or great dancing and more on the shock-value of the performance.

Obviously. ARTPOP is her worst effort, IMO. I can't defend her lackluster numbers whatsoever, but I'm talking about the ones who are acting like she wasn't a force once upon a time in her career. At her peak, there was a lot to hate on. While it may be arguable, she was the biggest name in pop during TFM days. They were waiting for Gags to flop hard so they can drag her from left to right. Now they have their chance.

So they did and still do have a lot to hate on.
