The lowdown: There are some seriously complicated gender politics at play in this ode to self-appreciation: Consumed by a man, Katy commits to finding a better version of herself that she can love...as much as she wants that man to love her. Most voters weren't interested in sorting through that turmoil; "Love Me" received a single 10, the fewest of any song in the rate.

ATRL says...: "How could one half of the absolutely amazing Bloodshy & Avant be responsible for a song this dull, lifeless, and shallow?" wondered adrianbeane. August enjoyed the production but said it was "quite a shame that these American Idol coronation song-type lyrics are sung over it." lovesong argued, "Its sweet and sugary pop, sometimes that's a good thing!

Best bit: "But now, I don't negotiate with insecurities/They always seem to get the best of me"

how on earth are these lyrics shallow and lifeless um have you heard Britney Jane? like the hate for PRISM in general is far too much. this songs so heartfelt and inspiring, atrl her vapid pessimists and str8s refusing to let the light in

The lowdown: After the oppressive lull of Prism’s second half, “Choose Your Battles” offers much-needed release and a worthwhile closer to the deluxe edition. With its pounding drums and slow-burning climax, it’s one of the album’s few midtempo tracks that feels up to the level of a pop superstar. Perhaps Katy should have heeded her own advice and left all those feelings for therapy, instead of fighting to express them through a mainstream pop record; Prism could have been halfway decent.

ATRL says...: "Amazing," wrote stereo.love. "'Choose Your Grammys' should be the last single and Katy's first to win the aforementioned award." lovesong praised the production from Greg Wells and Katy herself. "I live for those ticking clock sounds," he said. adriane was a little more mixed: "Cool drums on the chorus but that's about it."

Then August went off: "The AUDACITY of Katy Perry to put one of the best tracks as the 16th and final one of this album personally offends me. I almost don't want to give it a high score because I feel PLAYED. It should feel like a reward for getting through tracks 8-15, but it just hurts my heart that she would do this to me. If there was any doubt that I absolutely hated this woman...... (As I write this, floored that a mid-tempo on Prism doesn't completely suck, the album begins over and 'Roar' starts again. Laughter ensues.)"

Best bit: Is she singing "Why you trying to make me your anime?" or "Why you trying to make me your Anna Mae?"

JnD should have not been the first elemination, not with songs like Double Rainbow and Hands in the Air in this rate I dont even remember what This Moment and Love Me sound like. ISBE and Body Ache should have stayed a little longer, too. The rest of the eliminations are deserved.

How in the UNHOLIEST **** is Choose Your Battles punched out THIS EARLY? I definitely identify with August on this song though, I don't know what she was thinking putting it last on the deluxe album. Makes no sense at all since it's one of the best written songs, if the not the best, on Prism.
