So why did I need exactly 16 of you for this round?
This week you will be split into 4 groups of 4. But you WONT be working together as some originally thought
Instead you will all take on a different side of the music spectrum.
Round 3: Elements of Music
For this round, you will choose ONE of the four elements to write a song influenced by (earth, air, fire water). This round you will not only be judged on your song itself but also how well it represents your chosen element. You are not required to mention the element itself, but that would always be a nice bonus. For some guidelines:
WATER: water songs can be calm or mysterious. They should flow extremely well, but never hit too high of a peak. Water can also express sadness and depression FIRE: these songs should be FIRE and ANGSTY. You should be tearing someone apart, whether by diss track, anthem, or break up song. AIR: an air song should be fun, light and airy. Lyrical themes could include partying, love, and sex. These are the songs you'd expect to hear on the radio in the summer with your windows down. EARTH: this element can be a nit tricky to write a song to, but if you do it successfully it can trump all other elements. These songs should be grounded and solemn. You could be begging a lover to stay or singing about your fear to move on. You may not push any controversial boundaries with this one, you can make some deep comments on human nature.
Don't forget to be creative with these. Push the envelope but don't break the rules.
