I like a lot of her stuff, but this is a deeply mediocre song. The verses are ok(no more than that though), but what a total non-chorus.

Let me just say that this song does what it set out to do very well. The production is great and moody, and the song is very urgent in the best way. People attacking it for the sake of repetitiveness must have missed that it is used as a device to convey the anxious/frantic meaning behind the song. The repetition on SIO on the other hand... pure laziness and serves no real purpose. That song still remains her worst single to date. Glad this one is much better!

The song is full or metaphors, literally none of it is plain (sans the chorus, which has its own job and effectively accomplishes what she intended it to). This may be one of my favorite songs of hers. I love the new direction she's taking musically. And her lyrics have always been quality so I'm not surprised. This album may make me a stan.

Taylor just swooped into the pop scene and showed the pop girls how to do pop properly. I'm impressed.
