@Jackson I didn't grow up in the nicest area/most prone to graduating and going to college. Hence the "if you don't make it out, none of us ever will." She's saying that in reference to making it out of the town we grew up in. Making it out of there and making something of yourself, etc.
I wasn't his favorite, obviously. I think I'll be middling once he finishes.
