This sort of thing doesn't happen every week. Everyone knows sales are the pits and this could well be the last ever one-week-to-platinum release, I think people have excuse to be interested, excited and, dare I say it, obsessed.

Did people see it coming when Speak Now sold so high on its debut or did it take people by surprise? Seeing as she wasn't big in the UK at the time and I wasn't on ATRL at the time, I didn't even know the album existed before I became more invested in Taylor myself

It was sort of expected. Fearless debuted with almost 600k and went on to sell like 6 million copies.
If we adjust Taylor's sales to inflation, Red's first week sales should have exceeded 2 Million. Same with 1989 while Speak Now, maybe around 1.7-1.8 Million.

Yes. Her fanbase is already strong back then Fearless era is so successfull. Speak Now is the most anticipated album of 2010.

Yes, I remember. She put such an amazing masterpice, people went like crazy when Speak Now was released, don't blame them, the song is incredible. I was impressed but it was kinda expected Speak Now's massive sucess
