The lowdown: Ben E. King’s classic “Stand By Me” becomes the guiding star for Miley and Future’s mumbly space voyage through a relationship at a crossroads. But what’s meant to be mellow and romantic comes across more sleepy than anything. Perhaps a few less sips of sizzurp could have saved this one from sounding like an SNL sketch about the development process for This Is The End.
ATRL says...: All anyone could talk about was Future. While August called himself a "stan," stereo.love and lovesong both singled him out as the worst part of "My Darlin'." "Sweet sounding ballad but it'd be better as a solo version," lovesong wrote. "Future kind of ruins everything doesn't he?"
Best bit: Working the lyric "We gon' make a movie, a movie/And it's gon' be in 3D, in 3D" into a song seven times.
"My Darlin'" is one of my faves from Bangerz though. The best interracial love song by white trash and a hip hop artist since Gwen and André hit us with "Long Way To Go" nearly a decade ago.
