The lowdown: Remember that girl in high school who had a very public falling out with her best friend? And then she wouldn’t stop talking about it, because she secretly liked the attention? And she wouldn’t get over it, even when everybody else had long since moved on? This screechy anti-Perez Hilton diatribe is kind of like that, only set to an aggressive synth backbeat. By far the most out-of-place song on ARTPOP, “Swine” received the fourth-highest number of 1’s in this rate.
ATRL says...: "Gaga has a great ear for pop melodies but she has trouble writing some good lyrics to them," adrianbeane observed. lovesong called it a "cacophonous mess." JakeKills was blunt: "Literally the worst. Ever."
Best bit: That breathy hiccup sound in the instrumental for the first verse is a great production flourish.
I feel kinda the same way about that song as I do this. The lyrics are definitely worse in that song.
What is wrong with Katy anyway. Like do they give her songs that have potential to be good and then she writes it into the ground intentionally? That's how it felt with this album though. Like even Birthday which I think is my favorite from Prism has Katy showing off horrible metaphors.
I agree completely PRISM is full of cringeworthy lyrics and I love Birthday too
I'm ok with this tbh. Swine is a good song but it was SO much better at swinefest. it could've been a masterpiece but instead the studio version feels a bit empty
