I still don't understand why its a Cat 1 but its dubbed the "Frakenstorm" and why the media is hyping it up so badly. The Northeast has been hit by far more powerful hurricanes scale-wise.

IDK though, it's supposed to hit Toronto, and the last time a hurricane actually got hear while still being category 1 was in 1954. This storm's got longevity.

Because Hurricane Sandy merged with 2 other weather systems to create one giant "superstorm."
Usually it's just the remains, so just your normal rainfall/thunderstorm. Hurricane Hazel was as strong as a Category 1 hurricane when it hit in 1954 and caused lots of damage.
Hasn't it been said that it's a hurricane + a nor'easter + some low pressure system?
I think so; however, the media is still hyping it up. It may also have something to do with the fact that this has been a relatively weak Hurricane Season with little activity.
