"It's one of those things where I kind of found myself in interviews bringing myself back to the message of The Fame, because it's almost like I need to remind people that I'm not interested in making normal pop music. I never have been and my interest has always been to burst the bubble and be the fist that gashes through the window because that's what's exciting and fun and it's what I love to do."

Turning Tables was not bigger than Uptown Funk!... Why would he even publicly attempt to post that?
I like his formula with the albums, but the singles formula is an embarrassing mess. A massive album doesn't equate to a single which flopped upon release suddenly being massive.
Speaking of,
I'm doing a project -- 100 Biggest Single Eras All-Time. Measuring the 100 albums with the biggest single eras on Hot 100.
It's interesting seeing the main Pop Girls hit single eras ranked One Pop Girl with terrible Hot 100 history didn't even make it ofcourse
He multiples Spotify streams by x2.2 because that's how many people are subscribed to streaming services overall (Spotify's subscriber base x2.2).
However he doesn't realize over half of Spotify's userbase aren't subscribers and use it for free, so it's not an accurate multiplier.
Also lots of services with millions of paid subscribers are in like Russia, Asia, or Africa, that come with mobile providers and don't even really have Western music. So he's adding streams for services in which the music aren't even on.
I think it takes the album sales divided by number of tracks (how much albums the track sold)
+the SPS of the track
For some reason he only ever includes Spotifyx2.2 and not YouTube even in the albums formula
He 'attributes' a percentage of an album's sales to a single, and sales of the actual song get divided by 10 (TEA) and streams by 1500 (TEA) and then adds it up together. Actual single sales and streams are not really significant in this methodology.
It's heavily biased to singles that were released when album sales were high, as you can see in that 2000s list, nearly all the songs are from the early 2000s because album sales were at their peak. It's even more obvious in that 'all-time' list, like none of the songs are from the digital era
