I mean, it's been proven by science that The Big Bang happened, however I like to think God had a helping hand in creating that Big Bang and that's why we were lucky enough to be where we are today.

The two aren't mutually exclusive at all

To the gay Christians in here: if God was gay, would he be a top or a bottom?

Most people who follow ideologies take more progressive interpretations of it as time goes on and as society becomes more liberal in general. The biggest religion in America is Christianity, yet same-sex marriage is now legal everywhere and there is no huge and active movement trying to reverse the decision.
I don't respect people who encourage killing and all of that either, but people can be Christian or Muslim without adhering to those principles.

At least we don't cause wars, genocide, blow up buildings, go to crusades or turn into terrorists.

Well, yeah. Respect of ideologies kinda ends when they harm other people, but not all religious people subscribe to ideologies that promote any such things. I, for one, do not believe in any kind of harm for people who have a different belief in mine, consider women equal to men, and think there si nothing wrong with being gay
|
Thanks but that still does not change that fact that religions still teach that being gay is a sin and women is inferior.

We are evolving as a human race and I'm so happy, this is the beginning of the end of everything bad that religion has done to society, kids are getting educated ans we're heading to a better place.
First world countries are going this route, sadly, in Africa and Latin America the number of christians is projected to keep rising. Education is extremely needed in these poor areas.

I wasn't speaking for myself, I was merely elaborating on the matter. What are you sorry for? Must I be sorry for you, someone who identifies by a religion?
I must have struck a very sensitive nerve. You have now resulted to eliminating everyone who doesn't hold religion to a high standard. Where has your belief of "respecting everyone" gone?

What does being gay have to do with anything? The minute I say I don't believe in God I'm told by my own FAMILY that I'm going to hell or that I'm a devil worshipper.

That is not at all how I interpret it, but I respect your right to your own vastly different interpretation as long as you do not apply these descriptions to all Christians as well . i do think there are parts of the OT that can seem... hateful, but as a whole, I feel it's a book that promotes unconditional love, acceptance, and forgiveness towards others. Particularly with many of the New Testament teachings, such as the two most important commandments

Talk about doing the most and putting words in someone's mouth. You're not interested in a rational discussion and I am not going to talk with you more. I never said anything of the sort

Some do, some do not. Just like some atheists think being gay is wrong and women are inferior. I guess they represent all atheists?

How are you going to expect anyone to respect your values if you don't respect theirs?

|
Why are you comparing sexuality to religion? They're not even remotely similar...

So when religion disappears (which i doubt that will happen because of it's huge followers), you think all bad in the world will just magically disappear?

You at an individual level, maybe not. But you believe in an ideology who has many representatives and believers that do and as such by following this ideology you are indirectly strenghening it and contributing to these ideas still being so powerful.
That's why any believer is at least indirectly responsible for the actions of the extremist fringe of their religion because they take their inspiration from the same material. The 'this isn't my religion' is bullcrap.
