Anyways, everyone is entitled to their own belief on the creation of the world without being judged. I believe God had a very large involvement, but I completely respect that others do not and am 100% fine with that. What I do not respect is the "atheism is superior" mindset that certain entitled fools on this forum have taken (and, obviously I'm opposed to "Christianity is objectively superior and Christians > Non-Christians" people as well)

I don't respect people who believe in ideologies that encourage the killing of non-believers or that consider women as inferior or that make gay people sinners.

So when nonreligious people are cheering for themselves or criticizing religions, we are being disrespectful. But when religious people are, we have to respect their beliefs?

Their just expressing their opinions! TOTEZ acceptable
Of course, if a religious fundamentaist said this about gay people, there would be (deservingly) hell to pay.

But continue to argue over nothing!

Iceland may be small but it is one of the most prosperous nations on Earth, and what's happening there may happen in other places later. Northern Europe in general

Of course. But it's not in bad taste to celebrate when you feel that the world is improving according to your personal beliefs, so please don't lump all atheists/non-believers into the same pile, they're all individuals.

I do get what you are trying to say and I don't think you meant harm. That said, I do think what was said was offensive. And comparing a key element in many people's lives isn't quite the same as how much a pop star's album sells
|
Going by your stated opinions and beliefs, this comment can be seen as extremely offensive as well. Who are you to decide what is worth comparing or not? For someone who has little to no interest in religion or doesn't identify oneself by it, a pop star can be even more important than religion and therefore be a key element in a person's life.
Practise what you preach, mate.

Well, yeah. Respect of ideologies kinda ends when they harm other people, but not all religious people subscribe to ideologies that promote any such things. I, for one, do not believe in any kind of harm for people who have a different belief in mine, consider women equal to men, and think there si nothing wrong with being gay

Fine, if you actually think a pop star album's sales is as importantt as religion, I am sorry.
FOR THE LARGE MAJORITY OF THE STATiSTICAL POPULATION, they are not comparable

And no if someone believes that God created the world its a ridiculous belief so no it shouldn't be respected.

Then don't expect anyone to respect your ignorant opinion

Well I mean, I believe in God, I like to believe there is a higher power but I don't think he created the world either. I mean, it's been proven by science that The Big Bang happened, however I like to think God had a helping hand in creating that Big Bang and that's why we were lucky enough to be where we are today.

This basically. Religious people are so worked up in their beliefs and DEMAND respect for a billion different variations of their nonsensical beliefs.

So let me get this straight, you get upset over someone saying they don't believe in homosexuality but yet you turn around and say anyone who's a Christian shouldn't be respected.
How are you going to expect anyone to respect your values if you don't respect theirs?

it's ironic that you don't respect others peoples believes but you want people to respect you because you're gay.

Good job Iceland. I know that for many religion is something they find comfort in, but I'm a believer you should be finding comfort in the people and things around you, tangible emotions and people, not a 100% faith based system.
Christianity would be nicer if the main source of practicing instruction, the Bible, was not a spiteful book with sexism, racism, homophobia and violence throughout.
