Okay, so I'm currently writing this song called 'The Ice Princess' and it's spanned into 2 new but different songs. One is about living life to the fullest. The other is about not feeling good enough. While 'The Ice Princess' itself is supposed to be about misconceptions or hiding one's self. A complete and utter mess.
'I…can’t keep…living like this
When you…you make me…feel like
I'm the reason why you’re here
If you don’t really love me (deep inside)
Then at least erase all of the filthy shame
There’s no need…to be…the one who takes the blame
So please…just tell me…if I.should.disappear'

Aren't the seasons 1-5 numbers the people that actually submitted first round? Also, I think in the later seasons there were eliminations in the first round just because so many submitted. (That sounded really rude, but I was just curious if only 20 people signed up for the other seasons.)
So, here's a question for people who already write. Have you ever gone back to look at things you've written and remembering how much you liked it/how proud you were of it? Doesn't have to be lyrics...could be anything, really. I am going through songs I've written in the past and I really like some of them.

I took those numbers from the number of people that signed up before Round 1 in each season was posted, so there were even less that submitted. Although seasons 2-4 there was a 20 person limit to begin with

Ofc, all the time! Tbh one of the songs I'm most proud of is the messiest I've ever written and that was 'Last Calling'. It's just very dear to my heart. I don't particularly know why. The melody was the catchiest **** I've heard in my LIFE though. It rivals Gaga's Venus with all those hooks, I can admit that, but it was the second song I've ever written (after that painful Gospel track) so there ya go.
Last Calling
BRIDGE/HOOK
These are the last callings that were never dealt with hope
You were the last friend that I'd ever come too close (or had ever known)
Hidden away with a never-telling end
To delve into much frequent oppression that's held against me constantly
To live with such standards on a whim just to fit in (and set myself free)
Our last calling together was left on a bittersweet note
Wish I had made amends and maybe I wouldn't have been so alone
Cause this is my last call, fall, fall, last calling to you (yet so soon)
[RAP] VERSE #1
Countless acts of soul-selling signs
Swept up by the fallen tides
Here in Atlantis
All is done
Amidst the enlightened few throughout the vines
I've always been known to have lived a lie
In the demonic flames that behold their sunken eyes
The solemn creatures that possess all minds and time
We're left with those that have grown as none
As they seek the message behind our blood-orange sun
Last calling
I've come undone
Last calling
Neglected as one
CHORUS
I've had enough
I'm only a none in seven billion
One step away from a bleak fantasy
Enough of the marks that have invested and infested within my burning heart
Sometimes it just seems like sweet sweet ecstasy
Lost all true signs of integrity (baby)
Fighting the urge to destroy whatever cannot be seen or unseen
Fed up of just being another one of those "freaks"
This is my last falling
Pay attention to our last calling
You must agree
That enough is enough
Enough of being me
POST-CHORUS
You cannot take myself away from me
For I am all I wanna be
Who are you to let yourself know about me
Please just let me live and leave in harmony
I've had enough of this kinda ****ed salvation
Fed up
VERSE #2
From the stale riverbeds
Where the coral seems to perfectly grow
What lies under those sea of rocks
Is a long long tale that has never been bothered to be told
I am not the one with a razor blade
The scars have already been cut too deep (to be saved)
I cannot feel anything anymore no, no, please, no more
A future generation built on injustice and war
Enough of this ******** (BS)
I can't live like this for a second longer
The rift between us is growing stronger
Our last calling is nothing said
Just a resting bed
Just a resting bed
Just a resting bed
Just a resting bed
[GUITAR RIFF/SAX SOLO]
BRIDGE/HOOK
These are the last callings that were never dealt with hope
You were the last friend that I'd ever come too close (or had ever known)
Hidden away with a never-telling end
Only had the rest of my years to spend
POST-CHORUS
You cannot take myself away from me
For I am all I wanna be
Who are you to let yourself know about me?
Please just let me live and leave in harmony
I've had enough of this kinda ****ed salvation
Fed up
CHORUS
I've had enough
I'm only a none in seven billion
One step away from a bleak fantasy
Enough of the marks that have invested and infested within my burning heart
Sometimes it just seems like sweet sweet ecstasy
Lost all true signs of integrity (baby)
Fighting the urge to destroy whatever cannot be seen or unseen
Fed up of just being another one of those "freaks"
This is my last falling
Pay attention to our last calling
You must agree
That enough is enough
Enough of being me
BRIDGE/HOOK [KEY CHANGE]
These are the last callings that were never dealt with hope
You were the last friend that I'd ever asked to lend for rope (it's time to go)
Cursed truth and faint cracks in the perfect bitch you may have believed to meet
Hard-hitting blows inflicted wounds that only I could ever see
Sense of a home I could even call my own (forever alone)
Much suffering within this smiling ass freak
Please just let me live and leave in harmony
Hidden away until at the edge of my soul
Our last calling is nothing really much to be said
Just a resting bed
Just a resting bed
Just a resting bed
Just a resting head
My last calling signals
The end
Then we have the absolutely EXCEPTIONAL 'Nighthawks'.
Nighthawks
VERSE #1
Lately
In the frozen moonlight
Dust flows through the air
Falling deep beneath your hairs
Trickling like poison ivy
Take my hands as we roll over these nettle strings
A little pain never hurt anybody
PRE-CHORUS
The little drummer boy
*bang* *bang* *bang* *bangs*
CHORUS
Nighthawks (leave all behind)
Through the alleyways we find
These fallen creatures with a bitter taste before their eyes
They prey on our souls in the cursed dead of night
Nighthawks
Lost in translation
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Losing track of time
Nighthawks (mark our lies and lives)
Looking for a meal to feast beyond your mortal sight
A disadvantage that benefits the rising sacred skies
Here me out when I say that we’re only here to survive
The essence of a vulture
Claws of isolation
Caved under self-infringement
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Cruising on a dime
Nighthawks
VERSE #2
Linking arms
In the break of dawn
The rush that says that they really really don’t belong
A healthy predator amidst all the camouflage
Faux facades which shame those so gullible
Feeling a little bit vulnerable
Our burning desire
Seek me out
In fear
PRE-CHORUS
The little drummer boy
*bang* *bang* *bang* *bang* *bangs*
CHORUS
Nighthawks (leave all behind)
Through the alleyways we find
These fallen creatures with a bitter taste before their eyes
They prey on our souls in the cursed dead of night
Nighthawks
Lost in translation
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Losing track of time
Nighthawks (mark our lies and lives)
Looking for a meal to feast beyond your mortal sight
A disadvantage that benefits the rising sacred skies
Here me out when I say that we’re only here to survive
The essence of a vulture
Claws of isolation
Caved under self-infringement
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Cruising on a dime
Nighthawks
BRIDGE
Twist my words
Infest them like a disease
Take my soul to where we long yet don’t belong
Left here in limbo (save me)
Face the karma that once helped us
Through all the hypocrisy
Within the entanglement of time
Captivate us in true isolation
CHORUS
Nighthawks (leave all behind)
Through the alleyways we find
These fallen creatures with a bitter taste before their eyes
They prey on our souls in the cursed dead of night
Nighthawks
Lost in translation
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Losing track of time
Nighthawks (mark our lies and lives)
Looking for a meal to feast beyond your mortal sight
A disadvantage that benefits the rising sacred skies
Here me out when I say that we’re only here to survive
The essence of a vulture
Claws of isolation
Caved under self-infringement
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Nighthawks
Cruising on a dime
Nighthawks
CLOSING
The little drummer boy
*bang* *bang* *bang* *bang* *bang* *bang* *bangs*
For the sake of our haunted nighthawks

While we're waiting for tomorrow, lets bring back something from last season Fefe started. CONTESTANT INTRODUCTIONS! I'm not a contestant but I'll start
Name: GotSkill, Jack, Jackson, GString
Songwriting background: I wrote stupid cheesy songs throughout my childhood since the time I could write. My first were Rollercoaster Road and the Bun Bun Song . Then I started writing serious songs when my brother moved away at 15. I've taken a songwriting class and placed 2nd in last season of Platinum Hit.
Favorite songwriters: Kacey Musgraves, Skylar Grey, Dan Smith from Bastille
Favorite songs lyrically: Follow Your Arrow by Kacey Musgraves, Love the Way You Lie by Skylar Grey

Name: Euphorae, UFO, EuphorianSea, Eric, Ali
Songwriting background: The first time I've ever properly written a song was during Platinum Hit of last season but I've always been heavily engrossed in literature. Throughout my teenage years, I used to write prose poetry in order to get through frequent suicidal thoughts and anxiety that anguished me terribly which is why my lyrics are prone to sounding cryptic at times.
Favorite songwriters: Kate Bush, Matt Morris, Roger Waters, Tablo
Favorite songs lyrically: Under Her Spell by Christina Aguilera, Unravel by Bjork, Run by Snow Patrol/Leona Lewis

Songwriting background: Not too big, but I was always interested in writing. I have 2 friends who write lyrics and I'm the person who gives the themes of the lyrics to them and helps them. (Those themes are not personal.) People always say I have a big fantasy.
Favorite songwriters: Natalia Kills, Ana Johnsson, Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol
Favorite songs lyrically: We Are by Ana Johnsson

Name: Hugamari, Hug
Songwriting background: I started writing in...I want to say 2011? I wrote my first song because I saw someone's screen name and thought it would make a cute song title. After I wrote my first song, I found it to be fun, and continued doing it. It was kind of like I found my calling.
When I went on ATRL, I found out others had the same passion for writing as I did, and I eventually gained the courage to share my stuff, and I found out people thought it was really good! That boosted my confidence a lot, and I guess it helped me further realize I want to make writing into a career (although not necessarily songwriting, it's what I'm best at.)
Favorite songwriters: Those generic ones that write Top 40 smashes
Favorite songs lyrically: I like very few songs because the lyrics speak to me, but "Get It Over With" by Rihanna is one of them, even though James Fauntleroy wrote it. I also happen to like "romanticized" lyrics, which is basically really colorful language with vivid metaphors, personification, and so on. I'm going to use "Stars Dance" by Selena Gomez as an example of that, but there are many better ones.
