This is not correct at all. She was basically irrelevant for the entire mid 90s. People said she was over before ROL came out. I dont think you lived through 90s pop culture by the sound of things.

Yup, she was basically irrelevant, thats why she was one of the most talked about artists of the decade, released an album which shook the whole music/pop culture world up and another which is widely considered as one of the greatest albums of all time

I listen to everyone. Some are "innovative" and some are "basic", it's all subjective at the end of the day. I think the generic artists have consumed the mainstream to the point that music snobs and music lovers in general choose not to give them any attention. It's nothing wrong with wanting to please radio and make hits, but I think some should make an effort in how they do it. As long as I enjoy the song I really don't care, but some artists you can tell need to switch it up and try to do better.
