Gaga is def. thee artist of our time. In fact, out of the current pop stars, Gaga is the only one I see as a real artist. However, this article has made some valid points. Gaga is more known for her gimmicks than she is her music & I say this as a fan.
I feel like you would be able to answer this question better yourself considering she's interesting enough for you to stalk. Whatever she's doing is working, at least for you
While you are googling, you might want to google vaginas since evidently you don't know what one of those mythical things look like
sista your fave already posted on twitta what it looks like, she also had a photoshoot where she was tied up in cable wire with her twat hanging out.. thats all i know your fav for is begging for attention
Not all of you making this out to be some kind of drag
Honestly, Gaga is famous because of both her music and image because, for her, they're pretty inseparable. That's the nature of performance art. The article isn't calling her talentless or fake. If anything, the fact that Gaga has been able to utilize performance art to capitalize on society placing importance on immediacy and imagery doesn't make her fake or not an artist--it makes her ****ing smart (). She's part of redefining what an artist is, and there are opinions brought up for and against this in the article. It doesn't matter who likes it and who doesn't. The most salient point from this article is Lady Gaga is a making it happen, and you will just have to deal
And I can't at CNN saying she not an artist and starts talking about her antics. Can they not see? Her "antics" ARE her art. Her music videos, her concerts, her fashion, her music. I mean obviously to the general public her videos are nothing but a bunch of weird **** put together with music playing in the background. But obviously there's more to that.
They make some good points tbh. It kinda goes back to the point I made in another thread where I said I don't think she would be as famous/big as she is now if it weren't for some of her gimmicks. Her music isn't all that "OMGGGGGGZZ AMAZINGLYYY" different than the pop girls out now. Take away her costumes and such and I think she wouldn't be as huge.
what is gaga known for other than her meat dress and begging for attention... ill wait sis
Shes also known for having successful tours, founding a foundation to help people, being a world star (even in Asia),
for her hit singles Poker Face, Bad Romance and many others and for having actual talent (instead of some other artists named in the article). Shes also known for being an artist and not for being an autotune-whoring popgirl.
Just to name a few points.
I do think the public became really infatuated with her because of her image and stage antics. Not to say that her music wasn't loved by the public because it was, but her image set her apart from the basic pop tarts. Despite her having hit after hit, I'm not sure she has a song that will be universally loved by critics or recognizable by the general public like "Like a Prayer," "Vogue" or "Like a Virgin" years down the line. "Poker Face" definitely isn't it. "Bad Romance" comes close, but that's mostly because of the video. So some of this article is very true. What I do not agree with is that Gaga isn't about the music. You can tell she loves the game of music. It's her dream. If you strip down everything else, you still have a talented women.

And she's getting yours so she's doing a pretty damn good job

But of course that's true. Like someone mentioned in the thread before, the antics are what made her interesting. That's what made her stand out from the rest. Main reason why she's insanely popular, is because she stood out back in 2010, then she lured people in with music.
Who gives a **** what comes to mind when people think of Godga?
Her music and concert tickets will sell for years to come. That's all that matters.
Seriously, stop calling her "GODGa" that's pathetic, she is not a God. If she was a GOD, she'd be perfect in everyway, which she is not. lol. She can't even dance properly.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Lady Gaga has never been just about the music. She's about the entire experience, which encompasses the fashion, statement, attitude, performances, choreography, and the music. It's even more hilarious when you remember that Madonna is considered an ultimate artist, yet she is famous for her overall artistry as well.
They do bring up a good point about Adele. However, Lady Gaga can dress in black and stand still while singing Speechless, You and I, or the Edge of Glory. She could hold her own with just her voice and stage presence. Adele, on the other hand, could not pull off a Gaga-esque dance/art/music performance. Does this make Adele any less of an artist? No, it doesn't; Adele is simply a different type of artist, which is apparently incomprehensible to the writer from CNN.
They made some good points, I have always felt that Gaga and the things around her(image, sexuality, antics) overshadowed her talents which is why people outside her fan base don't take her seriously

I agree with most of what you said, but songs like Poker Face and Bad Romance were basically universally praised by critics (and are obviously her two most recognizable hits). Other singles like Paparazzi and The Edge of Glory, while not necessarily as commercially successful (but still very much so), were also universally acclaimed by critics. She's only two albums and an EP into her career, I'd say being known and recognized for two of the best selling singles of all time while also having them be critically acclaimed isn't too shabby.
