The list is valid for the time frame. Queen of Pop is a major title to give, though, for such a criteria. GaGa obviously is the biggest Pop star now. But Queen of Pop is a collection of things. We can give the time frame 2002-2003 and Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, etc. would be in the runnings.
Radio peak is important, but so is longevity. Britney Spears, for example, has had a splashy three years at radio since her post-breakdown comeback in 2008. But as well-received as "Womanizer," "Circus," "3," Hold It Against Me" and "Till the World Ends" have been at radio – Top 10 airplay hits, all – each has spent less than 20 weeks on the Radio Songs survey. Compare that to Gaga, half of whose hits spent a half-year or more on the chart. Or consider P!nk, with only three radio Top 10s during our survey ("So What," "Raise Your Glass" and "[****in'] Perfect") – but each rode the list 23 weeks or more.
They started counting in 2009. Beyonce and Britney were off the scene.
They wanted to crown the current queen of pop. Why would they go back more than a few years? If they started a decade ago, then Britney would probably be closer to the top, if not at the top. But this isn't about the past.
And a big congrats to Britney and Beyonce. 13 years into their careers and they can still run with the big musical acts of the current times effortlessly.
Gaga, Taylor. They clearly have ruled that time period stated the most.
