So, they've calculated the amount of points accumulated from 2009-2011 on the Billboard charts and then ranked them?
And that alone determines the hierarchy of the pop industry? Right ok
Congrats to Gaga though, obviously
No, they took into consideration album sales/social media/tour sales/awards/reviews. I'd say they used pretty good objective measures.
The list is valid for the time frame. Queen of Pop is a major title to give, though, for such a criteria. GaGa obviously is the biggest Pop star now. But Queen of Pop is a collection of things. We can give the time frame 2002-2003 and Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, etc. would be in the runnings.
Congrats GaGa, though.
And the true tea has been served. I'm not here for little time frames. I'm here for OVERALL.
But anyways congrats to GaGa for being on the top of her game right now.
Not to contest that Gaga isn't the leader - as I think it's pretty clear she's the most popular in recent times.
However...why did they start at 2009?
why aren't they using worldwide sales? to be the queen of pop you can't be local.
why did they not include features? they're using billboard data - and they count them for the female artist.
their formula of adding up radio points...is a bit twisted and not accurate.
it's all a little messy.
I think a more accurate representation of who's really the queen of pop of the world of the last few years goes
1) Lady Gaga
2) Rihanna
3) P!nk
4) Beyonce
5) Taylor Swift
If features were included, solo singles should have been weighed more than them, though.
GaGa, yes. Katy, yeah... still basic though. Rihanna, kinda... still no #1 album.
Holy ****. A #1 album has nothing to do with ruling the Pop world. Loud would have gone #1 any other week that wasnt so crowded. Britney, Beyonce and Rihanna ALL sold in the 200k range first week.
Katy is in no where basic. She took a hard **** on Britney in the Pop world this year. Lets not pretend.
And that is something their fans should be proud of, instead of being pissy that someone who rose to prominence within the trackings years came on top.
