I mean, it's beside the point because my point was that album sales are not what they used to be, but all the sources I've seen online say that The Fame sold between 11-15 million copies and The Fame Monster was certified at 5.8 million in 2010 (best selling album of the year)...and I know Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, but it's still pretty close to the truth. The real sales figures are probably 15-20 million, though no one can really be sure. My point was that you can't really compare album sales today to album sales ten or twenty years ago. It sounds really bad when you say Britney's sold over 100 million albums but Gaga's only sold 15-20 million, but in reality if Gaga had come out in the late 90's she would have sold 20 million albums easily. But thanks for responding politely! Some people here can be so fiesty.
Nope 5.8M was the cumulative sales of The Fame+The Fame Monster during 2010.
And it's really hard to say Gaga would be bigger as Britney if she released during the late 90's. You should consider the level of acceptance of society isn't what used to be during 1998. Even during Britney's time, her clothes were still a subject of interest and scrutiny all over the world. We really can't tell especially during and before Britney's peak eras was still a time when music is a lot tougher and competitive than it is right now. Almost everyone right now jumped in the electronica bandwagon cause it's the easy way as of this moment to create hits.
Oops and it's not even a ****ing competition. How dare you create this poll.
I don't even like Brit anymore at all, and I don't really care about Gaga, so my vote is totally non-bias.
Oops takes a giant CRAP on Bad Romance in song, video, performances, and impact.
Close this poll. A disgrace.
I don't see any reason why this poll is unnecessary. BOTH songs have immense impact on POP culture and BOTH songs were released by two most successful pop stars of their generation. There are more polls in here that deserves to be closed.

+1
It's like saying Britney would have been as BIG as Madonna had she started in the 80's. It doesn't go like that.

Oops is legendary and iconic pop culture material. Bad Romance is a big hit. It's not even near Oops level. Nothing Gaga has done or will do will ever rival Oops.

Did I lie? Nope.
Oops is a better song. Oops is a miles better video. And one single performance, Oops at the 2000 VMAs, ***** on every performance Gaga has done in her entire career, let alone only the Bad Romance performances.
Oops impact after 1 1/2 years was more than double Bad Romance impact after 1 1/2 years. As I said, Bad Romance was just a big hit. Now it's over and done with to be quite honest.
But Bad Romance is GaGa's signature. ...BOMT was Britney's.
Bad Romance has had a much greater effect on pop culture in my opinion. 7 VMAs, 2 Grammys and #1 WW. Not to mention the number of covers and the impact of her performances.

I never said Gaga would be bigger than Britney. Reread my post. What I meant when I said she would easily sell 20 million was as a result of the times and the state of the music industry, she would sell a lot more a decade or two ago than now, since illegal file sharing and piracy are becoming an even bigger problem. I never said she'd be more popular than Britney.

I'm pretty sure Britney lip synced through that performance. And I'm also pretty sure it doesn't "**** on every performance Gaga has done in her entire career." Your delusional and/or just trying to start a flame war.
To this day people remember the striptease performance of Oops..! I Did It Again. I never heard of people talking about a Bad Romance performance. Gaga's most talked about performance is the one she lip-synced in Australia.

She's never lipsynced. I love how Britney stans try to bring Gaga down by erroneously claiming that she's lipsynced once in their life to make up for the fact that their own idol has done the same for over a decade. And if we're talking about cultural impact, the Bad Romance music video was far more culturally significant than Oops I Did It Again. Just because she never performed Bad Romance at the VMA's or the Grammy's doesn't mean it wasn't culturally significant. Bad Romance shook up pop culture in a way that Oops I Did It Again did not come close to doing. Baby One More Time, on the other hand, I think was more culturally significant than Oops.

I have never heard Britney's Oops! performance mentioned to be honest. I have heard GaGa's X Factor performance mentioned several times as being one of the judges' all-time favourite guest performances.
Wow, you're a bitch. You post the same sentence over and over again but fail to read it in context. What I was saying, as I've already said multiple times, was that the music industry as a whole has decreased album sales. Meaning that, even though Gaga had the best selling album of 2010, it still only sold around 6 million copies, which is nothing compared to the top albums of the year a decade ago when Britney was around. If she were the biggest pop star in the world in the 90's like she is today, she would easily sell 20 million copies, just as the biggest stars back then did. That's all I was saying. Next time, before you attempt to respond to my post, take the stick out of your ass first.
