It's track #7 on the album, it doesn't have Avril or Nicki, it's not a ballad... of course it won't have initial sales. You can't judge single potential based on that, that'd be really stupid. Rihanna is getting too comfortable releasing all these safe songs, she needs something new that will make people go WTF! so that also non-fans will appreciate her. Man Down could be a career-defining hit that people will actually remember years from now. It's really good, really different and has universal appeal. She needs to take this risk and break some boundaries.

The DefJam studio needs to experience a terrorist attack solely for not releasing one of, if not the most amzing songs of Rihanna's entire career. And your probably right, Man Down will likely suffer the same fate

I don't know how anyone in their right mind could suggest "Man Down" as a single.
Its an urban smash waiting to happen. She needs to find a way to continue catering to the urban audience & theres not much choices to choose from. Man Down could even get airplay on Urban AC radio which attracts the older, album buyers.

Selfishly, I don't want Cheers just because I love it sososo much and kind of don't want everyone knowing it and don't want it getting overplayed. Plus, S+M would be so hot in clubs and to dance to in the cars. Cheers can be her Speechless, the one everybody knows every word to and loves and sings out loud holding hands at the concert, but that the general public doesn't know

I agree, and it's sad because Man Down is such a good song. But I wouldn't want it as a single anyway, if EVERYONE loved it then I would probably hate it.
All I know is Rihanna better bring it with this next single, and pick a good one. I swear if this next single flops...
