You all do realise that digital sales are slumping at the moment? I think they reached a record low about 2 weeks ago.

Record low since when? Their peak? Either way digital sales have huge pulling power and a run on iTunes can make or break your Hot 100 chart position.

It could have been worse. Yes, it could. But her stans - and I don't include you there since you said you aren't one - were putting her on the same league Britney, Beyoncé, Gaga, Kelly Clarkson and - yuck - Taylor Swift are nowadays: they can sell a song (well, at least a 1st single) on their names alone and make those songs #1 or, at the very least, Top 3 (I believe that's where 'Bad Romance' debuted, right?). And while dreaming about that #1 debut for 'Not Myself Tonight', they kept their MO by dissing and trying to discredit every other female singer. So, there you go.

I don't know how much clearer to make it.
74k? Wow.... well, ok, I can make it 74k clearer.

I definitely said there was promo, but there wasn't much of it. Has she done any live performances?? Have we seen any snippets of the video except for that one screenshot?? No. All we have seen, like I've said before, is a revamped website and a countdown for daily "treats" she was teasing us with. It seems you like Christina so i'm basically on your side, I just haven't seen much from her part, that's all.

I agree wholeheartedly, They can sell a song by their name alone. Christina has been gone for a while so she has to make her mark again so to speak. I would never discredit an artist though because praise is due when it's due even Taylor Swift, I liked YBTM lol. Christina just has to do something to make the song stick out.

This thread is full of EXCUSES.
There is no way you Christina stans can explain why Not Myself Tonight isn't doing good, not as good as So What, My Life Would Suck Without You, Girlfriend, Womanizer, Single Ladies, not even She Wolf.
Christina Aguilera has fallen.... big time.
The only thing that keeps her name relevant is her powerhouse vocals, so basically she's Aretha Franklin now....

I noticed that they have been stagnating, I guess it is due to a combination of factors but it is slightly worrying to say the least. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Rihanna's highest weekly sales with Rude Boy have been about 180k, number ones were selling more than that two years ago. The US market has been getting weaker for a while now. The UK market was growing incredibly well until recently, and that also seems to have hit a wall now. Sales recently have been disappointing.

And I'm not hating.
I'm not into sugarcoating, I'm saying EXACTLY what should be said but Xtina's fans are never going to appreciate because they live in a delusion that Christina is on the same league as GaGa, P!nk, Britney, Beyonce, etc. when she is soooooo not.

I think after this record, Christina needs to tone done and come back as a proper singer. She has never been able to successfully pull off the sexy thing very well (unless you count "Genie" and "Come On Over" I suppose) and her attempts and being innovative have all pretty much failed outside of her adoring fanbase.
Her biggest record is still "Beautiful," which I think says a lot. People love her voice and I don't think the status of pop-diva-superstar-icon are necessarily in her cards nor what people want to see. She'll never have the swagger of Beyonce, the allure of Gaga or the natural prowess Britney and Madonna have. She's just a really good singer, which is why her attempt at creating a "Boom Boom Pow" of her own is so God-awful.
I'm all for reinvention, but when your concepts are consistently two years late, unoriginal, stale and poorly executed, you end up looking irrelevant, which I think this single has successfully accomplished.

its digital sales can't be attruibuted to a weakening digital market, it just recently there has been no good/big releases and this is the perfect example.
Didn't taylor debut with like 325k digital sales little more than 2months ago. It's the lack of release atm.
Wait to Flo rida release Zoosk girl then we will see if digital sales in their full glory.

I wasn't attributing the weak sales of NMT to the weakening market directly, but I was agreeing with what £100 said. Regardless of how much NMT sold, it only managed to debut at no.15 on the sales chart, and we all know that is not good.

Oh, I forgot about Pink, sorry. You're right, she got to #1 with 'So What' an year and a half ago, it's not that far. Avril, however, hit the top spot 3 years ago and her last released single, even backed up by a huge movie, failed miserably, so I wouldn't put her in the same category as of now.
As for the Digital Market slowing down a bit, I partially agree - It's certainly not growing as fast as it was in 2008, for example. But it's still big, I'm with those saying the truth is we just haven't had any real big Digital artists releasing anything lately.
