The song sounds extremely dated and isn't really interesting or exciting. But I'm just glad it's not another ghetto urban song.
At least this pop track actually has a chance of smashing instead of being completed ignored by the GP, which I'm here for.
I wasn't expecting much when I decided to listen to this, but I was SO SLAYED. I don't even like Beyonce all that much, but she sounds INCREDIBLE on this song, as does the male vocalist. A fantastic song
I personally think Beyonce's timbre sounds GORGEOUS here. especially during the opening lines.. l personally love this dark, husky texture that makes itself apparent when she's chilling in the upper 4th/lower 5th octave..Her midrange is soo full in resonant and this shines when she pull back some of the vibrato and (vocal ornamentation) and just let her natural tonal qualities deliver the sentiment of the song..I also like that she opted for an airier more subtle falsetto than her usual siren-like headvoice..It adds a nice touch to the gripping production..it conveys a certain anxiety that works here..

It is gorgeous! I was saying that last night when some were missing the presence her usual background harmonies/runs/ad libs and heavy vibrato, but I think her delivery here was exquisite in its simplicity and I loved how she stripped down everything and let it rest on her tone.
