I'm sorry, if you learned about David Bowie yesterday it means you have no knowledge about pop music whatsoever. I learned about him when i started getting in pop music. I don't claim to know all old music (in fact i kind of dislike that i lack a lot of knowledge) but The Beatles, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin etc. Those are bands every pop stan should know.
I feel like you learned about David Bowie yesterday and are projecting it on other people. Saying you found about about Bowie yesterday is like saying you found about about Michael Jackson yesterday.
Plus Lady Gaga, one of my favourite artists, was heavily inspired in the ARTPOP era by both David Bowie and Eurhythmics.
Out of all pop stars today, the only ones who could come close to his impact are Lady Gaga and *maybe* Adele. I love me some Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande but they aren't doing anything revolutionary. David Bowie did, through.
There is a difference between some new Demi Lovato single, no matter how good, and one of the biggest music icons of all time.

I totally agree, I been knew of David Bowie and was finally beginning to listen to him music like a week before he died. It sucks that I didn't get a chance to fully embrace it before his passing . I've been learning a lot of music in the past lately though. Some good bands are Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, and also some lesser know a like Supertramp and Quiet Riot are also good.

Whatever. I don't feel like I have to prove anything.
Btw Gaga has been copying/heavily inspired by Bowie since day one, it's not something from her last era. Remember that thunder painted on her face? You surely do. Well, that wasn't a product of her artistry.

I disagree. Are people supposed to go back in time and know him or something? You can just be someone who enjoys today's pop music, don't really pay attention to past pop stars because you've never come across them, through no fault of your own. I know David Bowie because of an iconic cover of Life on Mars on Canadian Idol, but if I didn't watch those shows I would have never heard of him.

I don't know. I have a friend who honestly told me the oldest song on her playlist is made in 2010. I feel like if you don't know where pop music came from you can't really understand the trends etc. For example i see people surprised when i tell them Harry Styles will go solo, but if you look at the past it's quite obvious that's the usual thing to happen to boybands (see: N*Sync) Plus you just miss out on a lot of really good music.
Also, some things that many people may see as clicheic will seem brand new to you. For example One Direction is not the only boyband to ever exist, and the reason i kind of dislike them is because The Beatles (which i don't really love either) and a lot of other bands have already done about everything they have done.Paul McCartney made an entire song about how clicheic (but fun) love songs are in 1976 (Silly Love Songs).
To be fair, i don't claim to listen to a lot of old music. I feel like this is one of my problems when it comes to pop music.

I remember being scared Adele would get to/past Taylor’s 4 500k+ selling weeks for her songs or 5 400k+ selling weeks for her songs. With even Xmas #1 boost getting to the low 300 area, I wonder who the next viable lead threat would be.
...Probably Her archenemy.

& How is a #12 peaking song not a hit Its definitely a moderate hit, not just smashing. Not every hit has to be a #1 or a Top 10 song.

I'm not trying to ''shade'' Adele at all, she's one of my favorite artists so drop the attitude. I'm just being objective: I don't think the song will be a big hit because it has a huge audience already and itunes is not responding. This is obviously happening because a lot of people already own the album. If i'm wrong, I'll be HAPPY because I want it to be successful.
And In The Night isn't a hit (at least, not yet). It peaked that high because of streaming and radio: the song is not responding on iTunes as well to it's huge audience. Calling it a hit would be the same as calling half of Maroon 5's singles ''hits'' when they aren't. It can become a moderate hit but I really doubt it.
Peak positions mean nothing. Let's not forget 'Focus'.

Its #13 in iTunes at the moment...without Bowie...I dont get your claim..it is not responding
. A hit is a hit..Anything above Top 40 is a hit..In the Night is #7 on Overall radio..that is a hit..There you have it, it was high on radio and streaming...as if..its really low at all aspect..this is when you can say that its not a hit..And, Focus is a hit...It peaked inside the top 10.. but both are underperformances...compared to their past singles. You just have to deal
Maroon 5 singles on their last are all hits, albeit the underperformances...maybe the exception of This Summer..
Please drop the Tea gif..because afaik, youre not delivering any tea right here.

Well if things keep going like it is, WWWY might be Top 10 on iTunes by the end of the week. Def a Top 15 Billboard hit b4 the Grammys.
That 1-2-3 punch of Spotify, Grammys, and video HOPEFULLY will make this a Top 3-5 maybe #1 hit.

Why are we posting numbers "without Bowie"? I understand doing that for the Voice since the songs start off high and then free fall, not really impacting the charts, but the Bowie songs are legit contenders this week so whatever number your fave is at, that's what it is.

The only annoying stans here are the Day Dreamers. WWWY is slaying, no need to give us its position every 5 minutes "without Bowie" It's like WWWY being outside the top20 is making your skin crawl.
Like Sinister said, Bowie's tracks will leave the chart by next week, so how about you all show some respect and sensitivity and patiently wait the tracks to leave the chart?
And saying "without the voice" is different than saying "without Bowie" because Bowie is no longer with us.
And at your last ignorant remark, even if we didn't know who Bowie was until last night, doesn't mean we shouldn't still pay our respect to one of the most influential artists of all time. I shouldn't have to explain you why if you are a music fan.
