I expected 350-400K but 500K is amazing for Taylor.
I actually expected David to open around that mark, maybe slightly higher. 255K is what I estimated.
T-Pain 175-190K He SHOULD sell 500 copies, but I predicted maybe 35-40K. After hearing his new song, I was disappointed with it beyond belief. Oh well, I think it's gonna flop anyway. He's a better 'producer' than singer.
I don't usually say this but, go Christina! 75K for a Target exclusive is pretty amazing.
Now 29, kinda disappointed with the reports of it, I expected 220Kish.
^I'm not expecting anything too spectacular for the Killers or Ludacris. Each of their singles are getting lukewarm responses and this will probably be each of their first albums not to go at least platinum.
^ Both The Killers and Ludacris have done very well on their respective formats? (Alternative and Rhythmic, respectively). Human went top 5, and Ludacris has two singles charting simultaneously.
Given how stoked I am for The Killers release, I'll defend them further. No single off "Sams Town" was big on CHR, and the album still managed a big 300k+ bow and sustained sales to 1.3 mil
Not to mention - they are a huge European act. Their worldwide figure will be at least 2-3x bigger than their U.S. bow.
All I know is that Thanksgiving week is going to insane. Guns N' Roses comes out on a Sunday; The Killers, Ludacris and Kanye on Monday.
Ludacris & The Killers are going over 350K. I could pretty much guarantee it. However, since they are flopping with their singles, maybe they'll pull off a Jordin Sparks and only open below 200K.
^"When You Were Young" was a mega-hit. "Human" isn't really faring that well in comparison and it's digital downloads are low. Ludacris isn't doing well either. All of his albums have been preceded by a top ten hit and "What Them Girls Like" isn't even making a dent in the Hot 100. "Money Maker" went to #1, and "Runaway Love" went to #2 and so far Luda's new singles aren't picking up, especially when you consider T-Pain, Kanye, T.I., and Lil Wayne are all making it to the top echelon of the chart.
That's got to be one of the dumbest predictions I've ever seen on this site. You really think The Killers are going to debut higher than Kanye?!
LFR.
Anyway - back to your other comment. Was "When You Were Young" really THAT huge? Sure it peaked a few notches higher on Alternative, but it didn't do a whole heck of a lot on CHR, and it's iTunes sales were moderate. Again, the majority of its success came overseas, which is where "Human" is starting to shine (i.e. #1 on UK iTunes).

I didn't know about it's run on the UK iTunes store. It'll probably be a smash hit overseas but I was talking more in terms of the US. I'm not sure how "Day & Age" will fare commercially. "When You Were Young" peaked at #14 on the Hot 100 and "Human" has been lingering in the 60's-70's. I just haven't been hearing "Human" anywhere but I remember WYWY dominating airwaves for a long time back in 2006 so I guess that's my standard of comparison.
1. Guns N Roses
2. Kanye West
3. Ludacris
4. The Killers
Done, and done. I have a feeling Kanye will whine about Guns N Roses beating him. I can see it now: "How can some 20 year old something band beat me. No one even listens to em anymore!"
