To be fair, it took me forever to get into her debut. I became a stan during the Music Box era (it's the first CD I got) and as I followed her from then on, I listened to the debut and Emotions sometimes, but wasn't overly fond of either. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I realized how amazing they are and now they're both in my top 5 MC albums
I'm not sure we've seen a better debut album since the release of the Album of the Year nominated Mariah Carey 
It's OK if Memoirs is the first album out because it's the #1 MC album in my last.fm, and that's what really matters in my heart
