You can't. It's not possible. It gets used a lot, but Kurt was the voice of his generation; no wonder he had so many copycats. Folksy at the start, with pain jutting in like shards of shattered glass. Touching stuff.

Maxwell. D'Angelo. Miguel. The Weekend. Trey Songz. All wouldn't exist if Prince had never uttered a syllable; and that's just off the top of my head! If I were to include all the pop (read: white) musicians that have Prince's voice all over them, I'd be here all day.

Prince gets mentioned a lot for his overall genius and undeniable influence on music, but not enough gets said about his voice. A very particular animal; coltish, whiny, gutteral, with an easy access to falsetto. Really, in a way only he could have created, essential.
