Like when she was describing who she imagined listening to PI or whatever this morning I was super confused.... Like why are you making up imaginary demographics instead of thinking of your fans and people who actually consume music..? Even the people defending the song wouldn't be listening if it wasn't Gaga. I just don't understand how they could ever think this would be appealing to the masses or be the COMEBACK they've been setting up all these years. I'm still super disappointed and have at least some hope for the second single, but I doubt they would put out PI as the lead if there are bigger, better, poppier songs on the album.
Also my friend assisted at the music video set and it's nothing. It's literally her performing the song with a car in the desert. not gonna do anything for the song.
What did she say about the people/demographics for this song? I have similar feelings on the song as you do but I actually don't mind if she doesn't care about focusing on her audience while making music.
What did she say in her interviews about a girl that she realised was her...? I'm confused. Only heard 2 interviews so far.
She was writing music for a woman she saw in her head, middle-aged with no make-up, a glass of white wine in one hand and three kids running around, just standing in a crowd at a Lady Gaga concert. Then she realised it was her if her career didn't happen and sort of still is her in some ways. As in, despite being uber successful/famous/rich, she's still the same person more or less that she would always have been, and so wants to experience that side of her life more - be a part of her family ("her parents' daughter, sister's sister, friend's friend," etc.).

"Perfect Illusion" is just too average - I honestly thought I was a Gaga yes-man that would like everything she does, but that song is just not to my liking.
I'm hoping that this single was just her fulfilling her need to release something non-poppy, and that the rest of the album will stay true to the musician she's forged her career as, and to what the fans she "loves" actually want to hear.

So because you don't like the song, you doubt Lady Gaga's love for her fans? That's pretty pathetic!

I love PI so an album full of that would be giving me, a superfan, what I want.

Gather and collect me I guess.
It just seems insincere to talk so endlessly about your love for your fans, only to decide you're not going to worry about them later on and release music you know damn well most won't like. She reminds me of Lana Del Rey and how she whines about just wanting to make music for herself and not wanting to release it.
People that listen to "Just Dance" and "Applause" and not the same people that want a gravelly indie rock song.
Gaga just revealed that the PI video is literally just her perfoming the song
Just wait for the meltdowns of little monsters as if they didn't suffer enough with ARTPOP, she is gonna kill them with the video being the most basic of her career TEOG will look like a masterpiece in comparation.
Poker Face: My homosexual heart loved everything about the video: The platinum wig, the bathing suit, the model in white trousers, etc Telephone: It was nice when I first heard it on the album but I was super excited and thrilled to watch the video, now THAT was an event. Judas: Liked it at first, couldn't listen to it after the BTW era but now I play it from time to time Venus: Loved it, lived it, I was more hyped about this than Applause. DWUW: Who?
I think you are right about something but not about the era, she wanted to come back hard with ARTPOP, that's why she called it TFM's rave little sister even though it felt like TFM's trashy cousin that has a drug addiction and only appears around Thanksgiving to ask for money.
I don't blame her for giving up on her fans or her ambition for fame, not everyone deals with pressure the same way, HipGate probably still haunts her to this day and all of that she could have done to prevent it.
ReDone said that they were both put in the studio to see if they could work something out, I do feel like maybe the direction was going to be more disco/funk-ish because Nille Rogers and Giorgio Moroder were the big names tossed around last year along with Mark Ronson but then again, we are just speculating and who knows? Maybe the album will have some disco and rock influences.
What it's certain is that it's time for the fanbase to put in the trash the idea that we will get another pop album.
If you want something cute and bubbly then join the KatyCats or Ariana Pequeños
I never said that ARTPOP wasn't a good attempt to comeback harder, but it was the breaking point where everything went downhill for her, she tried but in the middle of the era when Troy left her and she didn't see the same previous success she got hurt in her feelings she thought she was useless she herself said that she wanted to die and was about to give up on music, I think her last attempt was the G.U.Y video and it underperformed Gaga even if she want to makes us believe that she doesn't care about charts, she does I hope she takes well P.I performance in charts, it will be hard for her but she has set herself into failure because she wants so bad to appeal a demographic that was never here for her and alienate the people that supported her, the majority of the fans that still loved her in the ARTPOP are leaving her.
