135 · THE SATURDAYS, "Not Giving Up"
Weeks on Chart: 4 Weeks
Peak Position: #09
Debut Date: February 22, 2014
British girl group The Saturdays performed well last year as "What About Us" and "Disco Love" cracked up the Top 100. This year, the girls released a decent follow up through "Not Giving Up". The song featured the signature The Saturdays style but it didn't work as much as their previous efforts.
♫ "Got me on overload. I'll be your rock of gold. Can we get overdose on love?" ♫

134 · THE VAMPS, "Hurricane"
Weeks on Chart: 6 Weeks
Peak Position: #10
Debut Date: September 20, 2014
These guys are probably one of the greatest breakthroughs this year. Despite being just a B-side to the single "Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)", this track still managed to make an appearance on the list. The catchy melody probably made me love the song instantly. Assuring you more from this British act as we continue on to the list.
♫ "I feel alive and I'm gonna let me, let me show. Try kick me down. I'm a full hot air balloon. I'm gonna take this in my stride." ♫
2013: EMBLEM3, "3000 Miles" |

133 · PARAMORE, "Ain't It Fun"
Weeks on Chart: 2 Weeks
Peak Position: #17
Debut Date: March 08, 2014
Countdown regular Paramore graced the list once again with the synthpop-ish track "Ain't It Fun". The song might not impressed me as much as "Still Into You" did, but it's still definitely a highlight in the band's discography. Plus, a telecommunication commercial here in the Philippines made me appreciate it more.
♫ "So what are you gonna do when the world don't orbit around you? Ain't it fun living in the real world? Ain't it good being all alone?" ♫
2013: MEL B, "For Once In My Life" |

132 · NICO & VINZ, "Am I Wrong?"
Weeks on Chart: 3 Weeks
Peak Position: #11
Debut Date: June 28, 2014
Undeniably one of the late bloomer tracks of 2014. Released early 2013, I only came across "Am I Wrong" when it started to surface the Billboard charts. I admit I was not appealed by it at first listen, but the song grew on me after a couple of spins. The impact was not that strong at all though.
♫ "I ain't trying to do what everybody else doing just 'cause everybody doing what they all do. If one thing I know, I'll fall but I'll grow." ♫
2013: ELLIE GOULDING, "Burn" |

131 · SHANE FILAN, "Knee Deep In My Heart"
Weeks on Chart: 1 Week
Peak Position: #20
Debut Date: January 04, 2014
Spending my childhood during the boy band era, I will never get tired of listening to Westlife. Former lead vocalist Shane Filan released a folk pop follow up to the cheesy "Everything To Me". This track might not receive much attention from the music industry, but I definitely dig for this one. Simple yet nostalgic.
♫ "Hot in the kitchen like a thousand degrees. That's how I'm feeling when you're next to me. I got a fever, tell me, what did you do?" ♫
2013: AVICII, "Wake Me Up" |

SAM SMITH, "Stay With Me"
Best Heartbreak Song Ever
I actually dub Sam Smith as the Adele of 2014 just because he breaks my heart every time I listen to his music. "Stay With Me" is probably one of those tracks that will just tear your heart into pieces. Simple lyrics, steady melody and soulful delivery -- these three things worked perfectly.
♫ "Why am I so emotional? No, it's not a good look, gain some self control. And deep down I know this never works. But you can lay with me so it doesn't hurt." ♫
RUNNER-UP: SAM SMITH, "I'm Not The Only One" |
