That's what also crossed my mind, but c'mon! It's not that hard to even produce a show that to be increadably off the top, doesn't any guests, or lousy segments. It could just be the hosts (or maybe just one) simply introducing the countdown videos, while premiering a couple others. It's not that hard, and the costs to produce the show could be so minimal on MTV's wallet. They could maybe have the show created during the 3 days with less than 10 staff members, while the rest are doing the spring break thing.

You're right...that's pretty much what TRL was in the beginning, but especially when Carson was hosting less and less...eventually leaving the show...they started going downhill with so many non-music guests, retarded "games," and whatever. MTV in general used to be all about the music, but now it's just ****. MTV2 doesn't even show videos anymore, that's why Fuse is the only decent thing left, and even THAT sucks sometimes.
TRL is the only thing on MTV during the day that involves music. People would enjoy it more if it was like the old days: 90 minutes, less chit-chat/more videos--especially premieres, none of this "First Look"/"Click to Pick" crap--On Deck everyday, show love to all types of music in MTV's rotation, including Audioslave, nine inch nails, and System of a Down who have all been RUDELY IGNORED since one year ago...be diverse...AND SHOW THE VOTING PERCENTAGES FOR ALL VIDEOS. It's not that hard if you really do count votes. o.O
