Earlier this year and over the summer, they started changing their wardrobe and remixing their songs to be more "urban" on tour. Then B0$$ came out. If you were keeping track on their tours/performances, the change seemed more gradual. However, if you're just going by music videos, it seems like a HUGE jump. Going from Me & My Girls to B0$$ is a HUGE change.
That's literally what happened, lol. I was like "OMG what?"

yeah, they totally changed their direction. I believe it has a lot to do with their ages. They were too young by the time Better Together came out, but now since most of them are over 18, they will shift to a more mature demographics. sex sells you know
it's still very tame in general, but they did have a little backlash during the mv of BO$$. some of their tween fans parents complained that they showed too much skin

This was so exciting.
When they started having a more grown up image, I mean.
I'm a hardcore stas, so I check all the tour dates videos and it was such a cool thing to see them grow up and now I love their hardcore dancing and sexy image.
I can imagine the shock of people who only follow their music videos though.
On a side note, remember when they first performed the BO$$ snippet? Sweet lord I cried.
Yeah, it was really exciting. I still remember seeing the Impossible performance as it aired and being blown away.
They've gotten so much better at dancing overtime (except Normani, who are always on point.)
Same here. "Impossible" really did it for me and it was only their first performance I remember just being mind blown at their vocals and instantly falling in love with all of them, especially Mila

When Mila opened her mouth, it was over. But the entire performance was amazing.
I do remember thinking Ally's tone in that performance ruined her part though.

OMG! I feel guilty admitting it but Ally's voice did stand out a bit not in a good way. She was great anyways, just off a little bit from the other girls.
I believe this was their performance that pretty much announced their musical shift. I remember how shocked everybody was when they all expected the RDMA performance to be uneventful
But why Dinah barely sings? Watching some of their performances and sometimes she gets like 1 line.
she's more of a dancer tbh and it's not like she's used as much in studio anyway
also in live performances, they harmonize less than in studio because of all the choreography, that's why except for solo lines they usually just save their voices and do all the shaking dancing things
